Everything you know is wrong.

I got my grades today and something is ticking me off a little.

Make sure my math is correct:

1) 865 points out of 1000 is 86.5%.

2) 86.5% is a B+(?).

3) This grade converted into a GPA format is a 3.4-3.5(?).

However, I received a 3.0 while earning 865 points out of 1000.

86.5 is closer to a B than a B+ brah, and B = 3.0.

But (.865)(4.0) = 3.46

Well it depends. In my school, if it is an Honors class then an A's range is larger and an A is a 3.5, and for an AP class, the range is larger and an A is a 4.0.

A = 4.0
B = 3.0

B = 85.

86.5 would round down to 85 and be considered a B.

Most schools/colleges that I know of just use A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1. Some schools separate them even more where a B+ is 3.3, A- is a 3.7, or something like that.

But I've never seen a school where your gpa is exactly your point percentage multiplied by 4.

See you on the battlefield.

An 86 is still a B, so you get 3.0 for that. Anything 80-89 is counted as a B, things like B+ or B- are nonexistent.

At least that's how it works at my college.
