I am a pharmaceutical scientist. I received my Masters degree in Pharmaceutics from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in 2010, after working as a Pharmacist for 4 years. I currently work in King of Prussia, PA, and focus on the analytical chemistry of small molecule APIs. My clients include some of the most well known big pharma companies in the world.
Tattoos are fine, although I view them as a significant personal thing. As such, it is my opinion that they aren't meant to be seen by everyone 24/7, there should be some means of covering it up.
Plus, while unfortunate, placing a tattoo on a highly visible area such as your neck can and likely will lead to some discrimination in the workplace. There are many employers out there who expect employees to be clean cut and free of visible tattoos/excess piercings. It's just the world we live in.
