I'm not surprised at all. All of the hype is building a sense of hysteria. Its effecting more than kids. My wife and her friends were just last night telling me that they are now nervous in crowded public places.
It took your wife's whole life which has been filled with people getting killed including presidents and politicians to be scared to go out in a public place?

And what caused it was a shooting of under 11's and 8 teachers?

  • 12.18.2012 1:28 PM PDT

For one, where'd he get the gun?

  • 12.18.2012 1:29 PM PDT

I graduated from high school on June-11-2011. I'm 19 right now. I'm turning 20 in December. I like playing video games, and board games. I like reading Sci-Fi, and World War II novels, and what not.

he should stop playing GTA

If he does play GTA how does that involve in this? He brought the gun with him because he was scared of that shooting. So he brought it with him to defend himself from something like it.

for all we know he could of been planning to break out of the school, steal someone's car, murder a hooker and then cruise into baller territory to perform a drive-by

you've got to think ahead !

Those damn Baller bastards. They don't even let a brother from another mother have a turn on the swing. I heard they even stole little Johnnies tricycle.

I r guy who gun to teach u lesson

We spent 90 minutes in school yesterday talking about the shooting, and it also freaked out my schools into heightening lockdown drills so I'm not surprised a kid got freaked out from all of it and brought a gun.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

The kid obviously did not mean to hurt anyone and he is only 11 so I think he should only get a slap on the wrist but if he actually aimed a firearm at another kid, I hope he gets punished because that is extremely irresponsible and stupid. You never aim a gun at someone unless you plan to shoot them, unloaded or not.

His parents should have taught him about guns and their appropriate use, And I don't think the kid should get in any real trouble, Just put him through a firearm safety class.

"The boy has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a dangerous weapon and aggravated assault, after other students told police he pointed the handgun at them on a field at a suburban Salt Lake City elementary school, according to school officials."

Very irresponsible.

I'm sure this is what the gun lobby is advocating for
Not at all. They promote proper education and training, none of which allow for this.

What an idiot. His parents even more so.

I think: "There are parents out there who still, even after all these shootings, are not locking up their guns away from their kids? What the hell?"

  • 12.18.2012 1:36 PM PDT

No more shootings.

~Thread-killer~

This is why you teach proper gun safety to your kids if you own weaponry, along with proper storage procedures. Instilling some common sense into your child wouldn't hurt either.

People who are sold guns should be required to take gun safety classes first. Firearms should not be that accessible to kids.

She's not a politician nor a president.

And, I hate to break it to you, but the rampage shooter is a pretty recent phenomenon. At least at the frequency it happens now. These used to be once a decade rare. Now... hell, how many have we had in the last 3 months?

"Right now it is raining methane on Titan. The planet Uranus is, hilariously, orbiting the sun sideways while Venus spins backwards. We sit here on a planet marked with collisions, rocked by earthquakes, shaken by storms. A planet doomed to be fried in radiation as its magnetic fields collapse, until the sun grows and leaves nothing of the earth but dust. Here we sit, glasses on our noses, inhalers in our pockets, braces on our teeth, and we say "Behold the perfect ORDER of it all!""

Agreed, Nutnfancy even did a video talking about teaching your children about gun usage and safety.

You'd hope at that age the child would already have enough common sense to understand that bringing a gun to school is wrong.

I can't. Sweet has been put in detention. CJ has been abducted by the principal. Big Smoke and Rider sided with the Ballers. We have nobody besides those Hispanic kids at the other end of the playground.

Then I suggest you join the NRA and GOA, along with becoming more politically active.

I feel for the kid since he was scared enough to bring a gun, but he shouldn't have had any access. It should be common sense with smaller children to have any weapons locked up and the ammunition in another place entirely.

Oddly enough, at my house I have access to two of our hunting rifles with a couple hundred rounds of ammunition. But then again, my siblings and I are trusted, so that's a factor.
