Subject: Boy, 11, takes gun to school in fear after Newtown shooting

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I feel for the kid since he was scared enough to bring a gun, but he shouldn't have had any access. It should be common sense with smaller children to have any weapons locked up and the ammunition in another place entirely.

Oddly enough, at my house I have access to two of our hunting rifles with a couple hundred rounds of ammunition. But then again, my siblings and I are trusted, so that's a factor.

I think this shows the effect the media has on people. This shooting is scaring many kids to go to school to the point a kid decided to bring a weapon to defend themselves.

he should stop playing GTA
If he does play GTA how does that involve in this? He brought the gun with him because he was scared of that shooting. So he brought it with him to defend himself from something like it.
for all we know he could of been planning to break out of the school, steal someone's car, murder a hooker and then cruise into baller territory to perform a drive-by

you've got to think ahead !
Those damn Baller bastards. They don't even let a brother from another mother have a turn on the swing. I heard they even stole little Johnnies tricycle.
little Johnnies tricycle !? right that's it get grove street on the phone, i'll go contact the saints, it's time to kick some Baller ass

I can't. Sweet has been put in detention. CJ has been abducted by the principal. Big Smoke and Rider sided with the Ballers. We have nobody besides those Hispanic kids at the other end of the playground.

well i managed to get some people from Saints elementary, meet shaundi, pierce and johnny gat, also there's this other guy but i don't know his name

I don't blame him for being scared.
That's a good point too. I don't blame him one bit.

But yes, obviously his parents should not be allowing an 11-year-old to have access to a gun unsupervised.

I must agree with Foman here. I think it being unloaded shows he didn't want to use it.

The worst part is how people are living in fear of going to school now. Bomb threats and all of that nonsense.

I think: "There are parents out there who still, even after all these shootings, are not locking up their guns away from their kids? What the hell?"

That is not the problem. Parents who do not teach their kids about fire arms and fire arms safety are.

I know exactly where all the guns in this house are, where my shotgun, my 3 rifles, and my parents hand guns are. I know where ammo is, and how to fully operate them.

I, however, know not to point them at people, and sure as hell not to take them to school (or in public for that matter).

On the Left

Godshatter: I can go all the way with someone without being attracted to them.
CamCamm: How does that work?
Godshatter: I'm easily aroused by anything that moves. It's a curse.
Brain says 'No, that's ugly', body says 'ugly is fine with me'.

EDIT: ^^^^^ That too

MAAAN! This is why for the love of god that they add extra steps to get a gun! Must take a firearm safety class. Must have proof of purchase of a gun locker thing. And if possible a damn mental evaluation!

But please, make the first two mandatory everywhere. I know the gun safety is required here in Cali. But some people still play dumb with this -blam!-. ugh. Damn us Americans!

"If you want to test a man's character, give him power" -- Abraham Lincoln

Can't blame the kid for being scared, but his parents should not allow access to guns so easily.

This is why you teach proper gun safety to your kids if you own weaponry, along with proper storage procedures. Instilling some common sense into your child wouldn't hurt either.
You'd hope at that age the child would already have enough common sense to understand that bringing a gun to school is wrong.

Based on the hordes of idiotic children I see at the local grocery store and at work, I'm not surprised at the level of stupid. It's the parents job to raise their kids right, and what that child does is a direct reflection on their parenting.

In this situation, the parents have failed to do that.

If we disagree, it's nothing personal, opinions are opinions.
Antagonizing me to build a false sense of worth is so damn cute.

Brighten your day with science.

Good to know his parents demonstrate responsible gun ownership.

Did you know that 93% of all statistics on the internet are made up on the spot, and that 68% of readers believe them?

The real answer? Active Camo Elites. The second they see these psychos pull out their gun, itd be over. Heck, they wouldn't even have time to chamber a round before three feet of glowing hot plasma in the form of an energy sword, glide effortlessly through their torso like a hot knife through soft butter.

And, I hate to break it to you, but the rampage shooter is a pretty recent phenomenon. At least at the frequency it happens now. These used to be once a decade rare. Now... hell, how many have we had in the last 3 months?
Sorry, Charlie, but that's simply untrue.

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Please allow me to introduce Myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith

The article itself backs me up.

Violent crime is down, mass shootings have been on an increasing spike since 1980.

Which is pretty much what I said.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

The truth about the Connecticut shooter:

His mom was a gun collector and avid shooter. She owned at least 6 different guns in her home. The AR-15 used to murder all those kids was hers.

There is a long history of documented mental illness of her son, the shooter. He was diagnosed with Asperger's.

Despite his clear mental illness, the gun nut mom went WITH HER MENTAL SON to various gun ranges.

She raised him within the gun culture, provided easy access to assault weapons that she bought, and basically put these guns into the hands of a mentally disturbed person, with tragic consequences.

Not at all. Perhaps you read the quoted piece that the article itself sets out to debunk. I hope you're smarter than that, but I suppose we all make mistakes.

Scroll down and view the chart. Study the "incidents" line. Note the 1980 data point and the 2010 data point. Which is higher?

And, there is literally no discernible trend in any of those lines. They're all over the place.
