Subject: Annnnnd now video games take the blame - RL Shootings

There comes a time in every mans life... and that time is not now.

Gunman 'spent hours playing violent video games such as Call of Duty'.

I think the funny thing about the article is that the title blames video games way more than the actual article does. When i first clicked on the link, Call of Duty was the main focus in the title (not the multitude of gun posters and gun paraphernalia around the room), yet it is hardly even mentioned in the interview. Funny what mass media does, isn't it?

"Nancy Lanza has been described as a "gun enthusiast" who taught her killer son how to shoot".

Yeah because video games really taught him every thing he knew and made him into a mass killer.

Halo 3 is where the morons of the universe congregates.

I am thinking of an old story. "Three Billy Goats Gruff" (hint the troll dies at the end)

If you had an electron microscope, you still couldn't find the -blam!- I don't give.

Really, because I just heard it was because his mother was going to commit him to an asylum.

This isn't really about the video games themselves, it's about the media once again taking a stab at video games even though there is no evidence that they were in any way responsible. The article itself basically says there were way more influential factors other than video games, yet the publisher chose to focus on video games as they're already a hot-topic in media so to speak.

Wow, did not realise that the last post was so long ago.

If you didn't Play Halo: CE or Halo 2 MP, your opinion about Halo means nada.

CE + H2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>> H3+Reach+H4

if anything playing CoD would make you incredibly inaccurate in real life.

I can just imagine people trying to quick-scope or actually try to swing the rifle in 360 degrees.

It may be painful for them but it would be hilarious to see.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I still don't see any motive, All I can think of is he had some kind of mental health issues or he was abused.

100% of murdered eat, drink and breathe, ban them too.

Also, I hate how the media always focuses on the negative side, and never on the success stories of video games.

For all they care, the top scientists, actors and singers could play video games, and they wouldn't give two -blam!-s.

Extreme bias.

He must have learned about cars from violent video games like Forza and Need for Speed.

May the media have mercy on us all.

Don't judge a book by its cover, unless it has bacon on the cover, then it is a good book.

he also wore shoes. Those taught him how to walk. they are also to blame

I like video games. I haven't played any since November 29 but I still enjoy them when I play them. They never once tempted me to to hurt someone.

I'm going to do that with someone who kills somebody with a tractor or combine.

Video Games aren't the problem.

Playing violent video games at a young age without anyone to teach you none of that is real is. It's easy for an eight year old, especially mentally disturbed, to look at someone respawn and thinks it happens in real life, and killing other people is a game.

It's not the games fault, it's bad parenting.

  • 12.18.2012 6:08 PM PDT

Wow, who would have known that a 20 year old social recluse with Asperger's would be playing video games while living in his mom's basement?
