Subject: Gamers push for cease-fire day.

"You are the last of your kind: bred for combat, built for war. You're the master of any weapon, pilot of any vehicle, and fear no enemy"

This is serious. Video game violence has never gotten this much publicity. What to do you think? Will you be participating? It's exclusively for shooters, so I figure playing Minecraft for a day wouldn't be too bad.

EDIT: The man who started the idea of a cease-fire day doesn't believe video games have any part in violent shootings, he simply thinks shooting games while a day of mourning is a little ironic.

I refuse to support something that, to an extent, blames video games for a person's actions.

  • 12.18.2012 4:03 PM PDT

Hell no.

There's nothing wrong with video games.

This. I don't play anymore as it is, but I'd still play on that day if I still played.

It's not about anything being wrong with video games. It's just a little time off of shooters to honor and mourn the dead.

This, why are we always trying to blame someone's actions on something else? When are we going to start making them take responsibility for themselves?

if the person cant determine the difference between reality and the real world then they shouldn't be playing video games.

Yeah, let's all roll over and let people think there is a link between violent videogames and spree shootings. This is so moronic. You don't see 'walk to work in honor of the victims' day.

"Insert generic signature here"

People still believe video games cause shooting sprees? I thought people stop believing in this -blam!- years ago.

Because ALL shooting games have a level where you shoot innocent civilians.

Hey guys. Just so you know i only named my profile chuck greene because i already did frank west like 3 times already for this site only

The game isn't the problem. It's the person's problem.

Same thing with guns.

.....It's not your main objective, but its an option.

Doing this would just further cause people to link violence in real life with violent video games. It's not disrespect to any of those who died, it's just unrelated causation that just dangles guilt above those who do play violent shooters.

  • 12.18.2012 4:08 PM PDT

I guess ill do it. i dont normally play games on fridays anyway but If I do ill just play NHL.

Jesus, their treating this like another 9/11. Why don't we just declare war on video games while we're at it?

Please do not send me group invites.

Yay, more pointless slacktivism!

How about you play your games, and donate money to charities and funds that benefit victims and their families?

Do something that actually helps.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

If the guy who thought it up doesn't think video games cause violence, then I could do that.

I don't mind joining in, no AC3 which sucks because I wanted to play it on the 21st but I don't mind. Like the OP said, Minecraft Creative Mode.

I guess I will be supporting this. Nothing wrong with a day of mourning.

-I was here

Just because of this, On that day I will pop in a shooter and put as many rounds into enemies as I can.
