Way to get offended over people mourning the loss of innocent life

No, this is the action of a single person uniting mourning people and inciting them to do something that advances his interests**. He is drawing attention to himself and violence in videogames. If you hear about someone who dies in a car crash because of a drunk driver, you don't organize a day of sobriety. That is offensive to people who use alcohol responsibly, and the victims in a way. Why do I say that? Because the people who harm others will continue to do so no matter what actions already responsible people take.

**Irony: the plot of CoD:MW1-3.
His success will be measured by the number of people who he gets to agree to participate in this, playing extra videogames in an attempt to counteract it is as pointless as the movement itself.

Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lube.

Great idea OP.

Let's make it "FPS 24/7" day.

Stop arguing over imaginary -blam!-. May as well argue over Santa Claus. There will never be proof that there is/was a god - and before people start saying "HERP DERP PROVE THERE WASN'T ONE ROFLOLOL" well, you are the people who made it up in the first place so we know there isn't one
What created the big bang then? A coalition of genetically modified TR-909s with extra distortion?

I'm sure the families of those killed feel better, especially with the fact their dead loved ones are being used to benefit someone.

Hopefully he chokes to death on a bowl of raging male genitals.

Nope. I'll watch my violent movies, tv shows, video games. There's no reason for me to stop, and it's not ironic in the slightest to play video games during a "day of mourning" because they're not related.

  • 12.18.2012 4:38 PM PDT

I'm game.

Doing this would just further cause people to link violence in real life with violent video games. It's not disrespect to any of those who died, it's just unrelated causation that just dangles guilt above those who do play violent shooters.

I refuse to support something that, to an extent, blames video games for a person's actions.

This, why are we always trying to blame someone's actions on something else? When are we going to start making them take responsibility for themselves?

if the person cant determine the difference between reality and the real world then they shouldn't be playing video games.

as pointless as the movement itself.

Even if it were possible, it isn't for the glory of a single person 'oh look at me aren't I just going to unite people and be the poster child for mourning dead kids' it is for the integrity of people who play games. I've killed hundreds of thousands in videogames, and the only time I've hit someone was in self defense. People like me need to not let a stigma fall on all of our heads.

Just for this, I'm gonna be playing No Russian on MW2 extra brutally that day.

Mreh.

No, I'll be sure to play violent video games in defiance of the notion that they cause such atrocities.

All that is needed for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

I'm totally open to not playing a shooting game on that day, but stop playing all video games is a little too much to ask for...

They should do a cease fire day even on violent video games. Just gamers going in a game lobby and walking around saying hi. :D

Glory and fame, blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of men, a warrior's friend!
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers!
Sons of the gods, today we shall die.
Open Valhalla's door!
Let the battle begin, with swords in the wind! Hail Gods of War!

Just because of this, On that day I will pop in a shooter and put as many rounds into enemies as I can.

This. Hell, I think I'll devote that afternoon to GTA and Saint's Row.

Wow, so many people in this thread didn't even read the first paragraph of the article.

So much stupidity.

He's not saying that video games cause shootings. It's just a way to commemorate the children who died.

We have a moment of silence every December 7. No one's saying that talking caused Pearl Harbor.

He wants all gamers to put down the controllers and stop firing virtual bullets.

Good thing I use mouse and keyboard.

Absolutely not, never, and no way will I participate in this ridiculous publicity stunt solely meant to benefit and profit this one guy. Nor will I participate in the myth that online shooters have anything whatsoever to do with real-world violence.

This guy's publicity stunt benefits only him, and is otherwise highly inappropriate and harmful to gamers in general. He can go to hell.
