Halo 4 is not dying. The HaloCharts just shows PEAK population for Halo 4's War Games: Matchmaking ONLY.
If you know in Reach the population counter counted LITERALLY everyone online. And 40-60% of Reach's population played Matchmaking, 40-60% always played everything else in Reach. And one MONTH after Halo: Reach launched in 2010, Reach always peaked at around 100k players(which means 50-80k in Matchmaking). One month after Reach launched.
Halo 4 peaks at around 120k players for Matchmaking ONLY (and I imagine the 40-60% population split applies to Halo 4 too), so that means Halo 4 peaks at around 150-300k TOTAL ONLINE population, and if you do the math, that means Halo 4's UNIQUE PLAYER BASE every 24 hours is around 1.2-1.5 million players, plus the offliners, so there could be 2-3 million people that play Halo 4 everday. And Halo: Reach (9 months after launch) had 800,000 total online players every online 24 hours, and Halo 3 (8 months after launch) had 700,000 total online players every 24 hours. So that means Reach's population was healthier than Halo 3.
And since Halo 4 PEAK Matchmaking population seems to be healthier than Reach's PEAK TOTAL ONLINE population, and since Reach had more unique players than Halo 3. That means Halo 4 has the healthiest online player base out of all the Halo games.
And Unique Players is a better example to describe a game's "health" in terms of online population
