You're generalising. The people who whine are a small group of retards. You have the right to complain, but -blam!-ing about a minor problem?
If it's a minor problem it should be easier to fix / shouldn't have been a problem in the first place.

Problem?

I think the term minor is very subjective, hence your different understanding of minor. By minor I meant something like visual representation of an object. An example would be people complaining about the look of a rock or something. It has no effect on gameplay or immersion so why should people begin -blam!-ing?
That's not so much a problem, that's more of a subjective complaint.

A minor problem could be the inconsistency of the pre-TU DMR bloom. It was fixed pretty easily by 343 but took a lot more complaining and criticism than should have been necessary.

I don't see complaints always being problems, but problems are always going to be complaints. If that makes sense.

That's terrible logic.

Even if you can never achieve perfection, you can still aspire to it.

  • 12.18.2012 4:38 PM PDT

This is stupid. Just because a game can't be perfect, doesn't mean it can't strive for it. The idea that nothing can be perfect would only be used as an excuse to make terrible games and force people to not complain.

I see no flaws in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64, Mario Kart, Goldeneye 007, Banjo Kazooie/Tooie, Rayman 2: The Great Escape, etc. Hard to say the same about Xbox games, though...

Agreed. All the changes are good and add variety. Do we really want another Halo 3? Just running around with one gun and no armor abilities? It's good that 343 wants to try something new. Do we really want the same thing for three more games?

But do people really have to beat a dead horse?
If anyone is beating a dead horse, it's you complaining about complaining.

This thread won't change anyone's mind.
Second of all, you're a stupid individual for even suggesting that we stop criticizing something if we believe it has issues.

People complained that the shotgun is OP.
It's close quarters, so are they insane?

People complained about DMR bloom in Reach.
Sure, it was annoying, but it really wasn't that frustrating.

That's my kind of minor.

For the record, while I think that bloom was irritating, it wasn't game breaking. Unless you got so pissed you actually snapped your Reach disc in half.

And trust me, there are waaaaaayyyyyyy worse games than Reach out there. Like Mindjack. *shudders*

Yeah, bloom isn't as bad as people say it is.

Speaking of Mindjack, have you seen the Angry Joe Review of it?
My sides ached from laughing so hard.

Beat a dead horse? What? Criticism improves games. Games are for the consumer. If the consumer can't judge a game, what's the point in a developer even putting effort? How are we supposed to tell a developer what to look for? What games are better than others?

I do see where you're coming from. And I do agree with some of your points. But I do notice a lot of people harshly attacking developers over a few minor flaws. Instead of harassing the developer, consumers/ gamers should politely (something that most people lack today) tell the developer that there's a problem. They should say something like, "Hey look, we got some problems with your game" instead of "-blam!- you (name of developer goes here) your game sucks dick". I think that's the reason why I struggle to understand the difference between a legitimate complaint and a nonsensical excuse for complaining.

That's just different ways people go about complaining / pointing out flaws.

Also you have to remember, the longer the flaw goes unfixed and unnoticed (as bloom was ignored for a year), the more people will become irrational.

What I don't understand is why people complain on The Flood. It's not constructive in any way. The game developers don't go on these forums.

Where can they receive feedback, then?
On their forums...

Let's face it: there is no perfect world. Every place has its flaws.

So why do people have to complain incessantly about a few minor problems?

Maybe it's because I had the misfortune to be born in somalia (worst mistake of my life), but I think too many people in the first world act like a bunch of whiney little kids.

Fixed.

Because every game only has a few minor flaws...

Furry At Heart,
Furry Forever óÓÒò

Supreme mastery therefore, is not to be victorious in all your battles; supreme excellence is to be victorious without fighting.

"Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies. "

Because by telling devs that our standards are high and we will not pay for half-assed games designed to appeal to the broadest possible audience, rather than actually being good, we motivate them to make their products better. (better meaning more complex and polished, with well thought out and executed story and mechanics)

Unfortunately, the number of people who have such standards and hold to them are not enough to actually provide much motivation. Not when there is a much larger mass of people who will jump on whatever the next big thing is and slurp it up while throwing money at the developers, even if it's not as good as other things out there, just because it's big and popular.

Wrong OP Halos 1, 2, & 3 were perfect. Once Halo 5 comes out 4 will be as well.

Are standards aren't that high just games in general have gone down a slippery slope downward since first couple years of 360s release. No one is innovative anymore.
