It's the law of the originals-are-better. Also known as original-is-always-better syndrome.

But it's true in this case. I'm sure everyone agrees.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

It sort of is, it's a very good comparison. Hobbit is a good movie, but it has problems and in many ways the differences between the LOTR trilogy and Unexpected Journey are very similar to the differences between the original Star Wars and the prequels.

I agree. Overlong, boring, too much CGI, annoying characters, nowhere near as good as the original trilogy, made exclusively to milk a franchise...

What difference is there between this and the Phantom Menace?

1. The Hobbit existed before LOTR.
2. The Hobbit is written in a less serious way, with a less serious tone, than the LOTR Trilogy, hence why it seems more childish.

Doesn't excuse it from being: Overlong, boring, too much CGI, annoying characters, and made as a cheap cash grab

Opinion.

Woah really? No way!! Thanks for telling me that dude.

It was extremely childish compared to the other ones. Saying it is Jackson's Phantom Menace is not a ridiculous statement.

Holy crap, did any of you "LoTR Fans" actually read the damn books? How could you say you are a LOTR fan without reading all of them? Starting with the Hobbit.

Please, they fit the first 100 or so pages into 1 movie, the details are pretty accurate, with exception being the Pale Orc and the Rock Giant scene. If you don't like the characters, than don't bother reading the actual book; they exist there too.

And why did they only put 100 pages into one full length movie? Cash grab.

But you know most people disagree. You post threads about The Hobbit and almost everyone in the thread disagrees with your views and tells you that they enjoyed the film.

Stop trolling.

A movie =/= book. You need to learn this.

A movie needs to stand on its own.

Halo3Planet, the place for all things Halo 3..

Need help finding skulls, make sure to go here.

I love that it's being made into three films. It gives Jackson the time to not only include all the scenes from the book but add whatever he feels like adding.

Learn reading comprehension. I said I'm sure everyone agrees the original trilogy is better. Which is an accurate statement, I have not found one person who like the Hobbit movie more than the rest of the trilogy.

Stop getting so butthurt that I didn't like this film.

I think he means that the Hobbit book had a much lighter tone than LotR, so you if you had read it, you would know why the hobbit feels more childish.

The movie didn't have to be an overlong CGI-filled mess to accomplish a lighter tone though.

The Hobbit was meant to be a lot longer..... There are a lot of scenes missing presumably on the cutting room floor.

So the version we all saw at the cinema is the edited, reduced, slim version of An Unexpected Journey.

Personally I find it bizarre that people moan that movies are too long.

What does the mother -blam!- book have to do with the movie? The movie was bad because it has poor movie decisions, not because it was a poor adaption!

They went overboard though.

The Lord of the Rings movies had a much more serious tone than the books did and cut out most of the silliness. The Hobbit did not and when you're comparing movies, it's hard to accept that these are supposed to be in the same series, much like the Star Wars movies.

Not when the Movie is an adaptation of the book.

Which has a much lighter tone.

All your credibility is gone now, congrats.

I have posted legitimate reasons on why I thought the Hobbit is bad multiple times in other threads.

The fact that you're calling me a troll just because I have a different opinion than you about a movie shows how unintelligent you are.

Wait. You said that you hadn't read the book. Did I imagine that?

I am totally cool with people having opinions, good on them, but you seem quite intent on telling us again and again and again. How many threads have you created about how you disliked The Hobbit that were met with almost universal dislike? I've seen two.

We all get it. You don't like it. Stop flogging a dead horse.
