Because Halo 4 is not a book adaptation.

This.
It doesn't make sense that Cortana instantly knows who the Diadect is.

Halo 3 terminals + super smart AI = Logical guess that the big Forerunner dude is the Didact

Shouldn't be too hard to understand.

You don't have to read The Hobbit to enjoy the film. But just because you haven't read The Hobbit doesn't mean the film shouldn't follow the same tone as the book in order to be more serious or whatever. The film is based off the book, you don't need to read the book. BUT if you are genuinely interested in why Peter Jackson directed the film in such a different way to the LotR trilogy the book will explain this to you.

Also its quite a good book.

I know but it seems to be the go-to argument on this forum.

As I stated in the other thread, I realize that this was the direction they were trying to go with but despite the books, I don't think that it worked for the film.

Seeing as cortana wasn't around for any of them except for the last one that didn't even have his name in it.
No, not at all.

This is an incredible step forward to being able to cure Downss sybndonre mn humans bineg.s

If your work requires that people also have consumed other works of other kinds for people to enjoy it properly, you're shafting everybody who has no interest in those works. That's just bad franchise design.

A lot of the characters in Halo 4 have a lot of knowledge they really shouldn't. Or, more precisely, react to what's new knowledge to the player without addressing that lack of knowledge.

No, not at all.

She had around 4 years to review his mission logs, not to mention she had access to Installation 04's database for quite some time.

It isn't hard to believe she would've come across some information about one of the most important figures in Forerunner society.

As a fan of the Halo lore I LOVED the fact that if you have not read the books you were bound to be confused in Halo 4.

Something Bungie failed to do was nod to their lore and backstory. 343 has proven themselves more than capable storytellers.

Hell, Bungie did the opposite of staying true to their lore with Reach the game.

It's Bungie who created Halo, and Reach, the books were Microsoft's idea, so technically Bungie was in their right to write their own lore.

Even then, how the hell should Chief know about him?
Someone insignificant from some terminals that he read shouldn't be enough for him to just go, "Oh yeah it's him.".
Same goes for Cortana.

Also I've yet to hear anyone actually give a counter to my points against the film. They all just call me a troll.

The Elites kneel and say his name.

Pay attention some more.

Major props to my hommie Sheeef. He made Recon possible for me. Long time recovering emails and passwords. And it was his. lol.

I know about all.

The Hobbit was fine to me.
Halo 4 was a let down.

I didn't realize that just because a movie is an adaptation of a book means you HAVE to have read the book to judge the movie.

When it is a classic such as the hobbit that many, many, many people know, then you should have read it at some point, especially in terms of judging the movie.

Most people won't even glance at a Halo novel, and I can't blame them, so it's alright, but for movies adopted from books, there is so much more in the books than can be put in the movies, so if you haven't read the hobbit, your opinion on the movie won't be as correct, because you don't know thr whole back story.

Same with the Didact.

I would hardly say 343 are capable storytellers, just because they nodded to lore. The retconning and changes make them look extremely lazy.

I don't see any retcons beyond artistic ones.

#1 Legendary ODST Firefight Highscore

[UNINTELLIGIBLE > INSUBORDINATION(?)]

While reading the books to the game/ movie can clear up a few few things, I don't think it was necessary. In Halo 4, (I haven't read the Foreunner books) the only thing that was confusing was the librarian scene, which I had to watch a few times. The Hobbit is similiar, because there were few areas that depended on backstory/universe alone, and most of the audience is already familiar with LOTR.
