I remember people rumoring about a classic mode in H3 where you play with weapons and maps from H1 and H2. I'm sure it hasn't been anounced but the last update got me thinking that Frankie slipped.

Here is what I'm talking about:

Tom Doyle, Street Fighter III: Third Strike expert, and perhaps more importantly, weapons designer, is working on a bunch of new stuff I can't mention, but also on rebuilding olde Halo weapons to take advantage of the new engine and the new level of detail. Tom uses the Covenant sniper as an example, saying, "I wanted to go back and make everything better. The Covenant sniper is one of my favorite weapons - it just feels so powerful. I wanted to emphasize that in the new version, so we're adding some detail that will really show off the building energy in the weapon."

Doesn't that sound like he's taking H1 weapons and tuning them for the 360 engine. Notice how he said he's working on new stuff that he cant talk about, then talks about him rebuilding old stuff.

It makes sense to have a classic mode being that this is the last chapter in this Halo story. I really hope they are doing this, there would be no reason for anyone not to buy this game. It would be played on live for years and years to come Guaranteed!

classic mode in h3 is just unthinkable. There is not enough space on the compact discs they use for two games. If you want classic mode break out your xbox and play some classic. Unless you can play halo1 and a 360? I dont know that because i havent tried it. Anybody try it? But we all know they are bringing back the AR and hopefully a less powerful M6D pistol (its still explosive tip so its nice n' powerful)

Down, down to hell and say that I sent you there...

I came into the world with my legs forward and a woman cried "he was born with teeth!"

"I had no father I am like my father...I had no brother I am like my brother...And this word, "love" which old farts call divine be resident in men like you -blam!-. But not in me, I am my mother-blam!- self, alone."

You Are an Idiot

Sounds interesting, but I doubt it.

I think you're reading a bit too much into that. It's generally expected that a sequel will have at least a few components carried over from a previous installment but modified in some way; a Covenant sniper rifle isn't a particularly shocking weapon in the H3 lineup, so telling us it's being improved in some way is almost obvious.

Some form of "classic mode" makes no sense whatsoever, at least to me. I'll put in my H1 disc for that. There's significantly better things Bungie could fill a disc with than an old-school rehash.

Yah that would be sweet. They should do that so that there will be more maps to play on.

If they came out with H1 multiplayer with nothing but maps weapons and a server browser I would spend $60 for it. It doesn't take that much space to put those maps and weapons in. I can pop in my H1 disc and play with anyone who comes to my house but I cant play on live and dont want to bother with xbconnect or xlink kai.

Service Record

I believe Frankie means graphically, not the actual damage or physics of the weapons. Much like the Master Chiefs armor. It's basically the same, but a lot more graphical detail.

Have you played Halo PC? I own it but can't stand it online. Who builds a multiplayer on server side hit regesters? Lame.

Nah, I've never played it. I had my fill of Halo 1 through LAN parties and with friends at my house...I didn't have much of a desire to revisit it afterwards. I had heard about spotty online play though.

they designed the online play so that people couldnt write hacks for it. When you shoot, the server decides whether or not you hit the person instead of your computer (like every other game). So when you add your ping plus the person your shooting's ping you get the gap between where you shoot and when it hits that spot.

Sorry, basically you have to shoot way ahead of the person to hit them, and that value is different for each server you join. On average you have to shoot 4-5 lengths ahead of the object your shooting, it sucks so bad!

Dude... The Old Halo weapons mostly are in Halo 2, and are being completely rebuilt for Halo 3, he didn't say anything about CLASSIC MODE WITH OLD WEAPONS!

Besides, there was no Covenant Sniper in Halo 1.
