Subject: Roller coaster designed to kill the rider

So I saw MyNameisCharlie post this as a response to another thread and thought I'd start a discussion about it.

This guy is designing a roller coaster that's meant to be rode by people who want to die.

Does anyone else here find this to be -blam!- up? I've never liked the idea of euthanasia but a roller coaster meant for that... that just seems messed up and scary. Thoughts?

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

I'm going on it.

Thrillville in real life? The media's going to have a field goal with this.

I remember a thread like this from couple weeks ago.

OT: What if a guy, when he was at the top of the hill, was like, "What am I doing! I don't want to die!" That would suck for him.

I really doubt you could legally make something like this.

Could pilots in their suits survive this?

Apparently euthanasia is legal in Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and the U.S. states of Oregon and Washington. So it's possible...

That's -blam!- up. I wish I'm never in a position where euthanasia is an option.

Well, the article mentioned an aeronautical engineer pointing that out and I think the designer said it would be possible to survive the roller coaster ride in a g suit.

Doesn't it say it includes a button where they make the final choice themselves? Either "Drop", or "Stop", or something. And anyways, I don't see it as -blam!- up. Rather, if I was choosing death, I'd most DEFINITELY pick the roller coaster. I mean, what a cool way to go about it!

Step off of the ride, walk up to the guy that removes the bodies and tell him.

"That was pretty fun"

And flick a quarter his way and walk off.

In the article it said there was a "FALL" button you would press if you wanted to go through with it. There is a 2 min climb to the top to make the rider think really hard about his decision.

Ugh that's scary just thinking about it...

Article says that is the place they get to choose their final decision, though?

Thats a bit better... that's still a terrifying concept, personally I have no interest in dieing... In fact if I could live to be 300 I'd be ok with that... In fact I wish I could live to be 300... 300 is a nice age...

You got to remember that if it's in a place with legal euthanasia, it's the person's choice to die. If that's the case, so be it.

At the end of the two-minute climb and are at the very top, you have to press the button to release, otherwise you're slowly brought back down.

So then he presses the button and starts to go back down to Earth where he can get off and go on with his life.
