So flood, the old Straw Man gets tossed around here pretty regularly, with the occasional Ad Hominem to mix things up, but I wonder, how many of you are using, or are at least aware of these?

If you google it and are interested, I recommend the book "How To Win Every Argument: The Use and Abuse of Logic" which despite its asinine title is quite informative.

Anyways discuss fallacies below!

Edit: If you are not familiar with them, try and figure out what is wrong about each of the statements in this link: :link

I love me some logical fallacies!

Truth be told, I've probably used them more than once unintentionally.

IT HAS TO BE TRUE BECAUSE IT ISN'T PROVEN FALSE!

It is very dark, and you are likely to be eaten by a Grue.

Yes. If you want, I could show you a book just chock full of them. It's very entertaining.

Generalizations.
Helping idiots hate other idiots since people have existed.

THE LACK OF EVIDENCE IS PROOF THAT EVIDENCE ONCE EXISTED

Stupid conspiracy theorists. Every time you point to their lack of evidence, they claim the government destroyed all of it, as if their claim is proof that the evidence once existed.

As in explaining what they are or using them for arguments? Either way, I would like to know.

Oh God, the next few weeks after someone first learns about logical fallacies.

Pro tip: Every single time you call someone out for using a "straw man argument" or something similar, you sound really dumb, and yes, that is an ad hominem.

I know what it is, because I know what it is.
Sadly, even existence as we know it is a Logical Fallacy right now.

I feel like the false fallacy accusation should get its own name because it is so prevalent.

Check out my youtube channel. http://www.youtube.com/user/ultratog1028

A logical fallacy isn't that something along the lines of Pirating videogames because they have DRM?

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Please allow me to introduce Myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith

Yup. Took a class on logic. I know'em when I see'em, and use them with efficiency.

Without The Flood, I wouldn't know what an opinion is.

Only a few, and even then not very well.

"There's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I'd like to think that I walk that line every day."

I've heard of the term.

Remember those times when we all had something better to be doing, but didn't do it? Those were good times. Gooood times

When in doubt resort to broken logic.

I make a living of selling my body, and I don't mean sex.

Nope thats something else, but for your idea, see burden of proof.

Now sit down and pull your pants back up.

It's a forum on the internet; though I am familiar with them, I understand that it is best to use sarcasm to make a point.
