I persist too long after my own defeat,
Yet I still press forward, staggering on my feet.
But I know that my resolution will be my end.
And once I fall, I shall ruefully transcend.

Butter my ass, turn around, spread open my butt cheeks, and say "Right here mutha-blam!-a!!"

Not worth it. I'd vote that surround sound is most useful when the speaker arrangement and room acoustics are not ideal.

With headphones, that's irrelevant

I like games and music

Don't buy a virtual 7.1 or 5.1 headset. Buy a real 5.1 one. I can't say that I like my Corsair 1500's because the quality on the components are terrible because I get static with my mike on. I could be the grounding on my USB port, but whatever.

I would buy a good pair of audiophile AKG's along with a standalone mick myself now. I'm really sick of things that don't work.

Yes. Totally worth it.

I have had a set for the past year or so and they are 10x better than having a whole expensive full room set of speakers.

1st reason: Power consumption
2nd: Won't bother other people
3rd: Works just as well as surround sound.

It is NOT irrelevant. I notice surround sound AND bass incredibly well with my current headset (which isn't expensive honestly) and I notice a HUGE difference between my surround sound headset, and standard in ear headphones.

It's really up to you, and your wallet. Maybe go to a BOSE store and try some on, I know they have samples at some stores, even Best Buy.

Unless you have an excellent surround sound system. I finally got some A40s and I gotta say Im pretty impressed. I didn't think it would make that big of a difference but you really notice a lot of things you never heard before if you just played with built in speakers.
