I have to agree. More often than not, they just seem one-dimensional, and the writers want to sell the novelty that they are female. Take Alice from the RE movies, for example. Part of the reason I hated every movie after the first is because she's just a relatively emotionless superwoman that shoots guns. And would Tomb Raider have sold so well with a male protagonist? Probably not. I want a leading female character with depth, and while I'm sure there are plenty, it really is hard to give an example.
