Subject: I need help from a computer genius!

Never make me angry. I am a Hitman and I can easily find you and take you out.

Ok, so here's the thing. I made an animation in the program called Pencil animation.

I just saved it in a folder.

I want to upload this on youtube but I don't know how to make it a video file.

I also tried this > Link

But I have the same problem as this guy > "on the last part when you said by putting the pictures in windows live movie maker its just that the pictures turned out black? can you tell me what i did wrong?"

PIEKID gave an answer but I don't understand it.

If a magical being on the Flood can help me I will love you soooo much! :D

--> Change name to <INSERTNAMEHERE>.mp4 or <INSERTNAMEHERE>.wmv or somewhat, most times this works

What don't you understand his instructions are pretty straightforward?

  • 12.19.2012 6:55 AM PDT
  • gamertag: [none]
  • user homepage:

most of the time there should be an export option somewhere.

failing that...

make it fullscreen then record it with recording software

You mean when I save it?

Like press "save as" and then use any folder and save it as (NAME).wmv or .mp4?

But then it isn't saved as that file right?

I don't know what he means with finding said files.

I mean, i just saved it as something in a folder. Then I tried to export it as an image sequence and select all the images and then copy them and pasting them in moviemaker.

But it just becomes black. When I save it as PNG. I get an error when it's saved as JPEG.

:/

That will only work if the file is compatible with both containers.

Why are you saving it as a PNG/JPEG?

MP4 is not a file type - it's a container (wrapper) that holds a variety of different formats/file types. That's why simply changing the file extension - as he suggested - won't always work.

If you want it to stay animated you need to save it as a .gif

That's what I need to choose if I export it as an image sequence.

a gif?

Now I'm 100% confused...

I think I'll never be able to make my animation a video file of some sort. :(

Ah I see. Well based on the link you posted they might be turning black because WMM can't find the location the images are stored.

Gif is a type of image format. As far as I'm aware, PNG, and JPEG don't support animation. So you have to save it as a gif to keep the animation.

He isn't saving an animation just a series of pictures at least from what I can tell.

I have no idea what that means but is there a way to fix this? :o

Based on a quick google search it might not be an issue as long as they turn black in the project/preview screen.

Isn't that the same?

An animation is also various drawings played after eachother.

I just made several drawings in pencil animation and when I press play it shows it like a animation.

you're making this way more complicated than it has to be...

I just downloaded the program you're using, if you go to the file menu, and click export, and click flash/swf you can instantly upload that to youtube and use youtubes editor to add audio

So that actually isn't a problem?

So, if I put the image sequence in moviemaker I only have to save it as a .wmv file? It doesn't matter if everythign is black? It will show the animation on youtube once uploaded?

It is to an extent. The only issue is I don't think youtube accepts .gif files so you would have to convert it. The method you are doing is avoiding having to do that.

Based on what I googled yes. As for whether or not that is accurate/reliable I can't say for sure.

Well I just tried this but I do get an error, of some sort.

It didn't recognize the video certification for that file.
