Subject: What are your favourite albums at the moment?

Matthew Taylor

I tend to like things that other people don't

Jean-Michel Jarre - Equinoxe
Jean-Michel Jarre - Oxygene
Jean-Michel Jarre - Rendez-Vous

Every other album by Jarre before 1998

Isao Tomita - Snowflakes are Dancing

What I meant was that I knew the whole album or a good part of it wasn't going to sound like that.

well that would be correct

In regards to me not buying the album I didn't like the new sound and Madness wasn't pitched as a one off I'll probably pick it up soon when it's a bit cheaper.

Blur - Blur: The Best of

I love you...
Why do people get all shocked and emotional when they find out that someone else likes a very popular band? Heck, that one's not even a real album.

OT: I'm currently enjoying:

Caravan - In The Land Of The Grey And Pink
Spiritualized - Ladies And Gentlemen, We Are Floating In Space
Ancience - Beats For When Yr Ready To Die
Azealia Banks - 1991 (EP)
Airhead - Wait / South Congress (Single)
Where do you find these kinds of musicians?

On the subject, I have never actually listened to that album, what kind of metal is it?

Well Caravan is a 70s prog band that my dad likes, Spiritualized is a pretty well known band and that album is fairly well known as well, Ancience I got from a music board I visit (all his stuff is free yay), Azealia Banks was being hyped up earlier this year so I decided to listen to her EP since I liked her debut single and Airhead was posted on facebook by James Blake.

That covers all of them.

POP by U2 and its b-sides from 1997.

The most daring U2 has ever been.

And the last good U2 album.

Yeah I loved that album but October was messy.
October is my least favorite U2 album. I don't think I've ever listened to it all the way through.

Needless to say. 2000-2009 U2 has been pretty weak. No Line on the Horizon was O.K at best, All That You Can't Leave Behind is boring and How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb is... Eh.

I hardly ever listen to 2000-era U2, an exception for about three or four songs though.

I love all the songs on the album except 'Save Me' and 'Liquid State.' Chris Wolstenholme is awesome, but I just don't like him as a lead singer.

Batlord is early black metal, Hammerheart is early viking metal. They're both really great!

Here's some black metal I do like though, check it out.

He doesn't have Matt's ability but in all fairness when I went to see them in Manchester he sounded really great and I really like his tracks as well

That was... different.

Bathory was the first black metal band (if you don't count Venom, Mercyful Fate or Hellhammer/Celtic Frost) and is worshipped by most of the black metal community.

Venom shouldn't be counted as Black Metal. I would consider them a prototype to Black Metal though. I think that They're basically what Possessed was like for Death Metal.

Oh definitely, he's far from bad. I gave the songs a few listens when I first got the album. They just don't have the long-lasting appeal of the other songs. At this point it doesn't feel like a MUSE song without Matt's voice.

I count Possessed as death metal, I always thought of them as the Bathory of death metal.
