A competitive players main goal is to win.
A casuals main goal is to have fun regardless of whether that results in a win or loss.
It has nothing to do with individual skill or knowledge, it has to do with the reason you play.
Odd, I personally got constantly matched against full party averaging around 1.5-2.5 k/d, when playing with few of my friends who are complete noobs when it comes to Halo. Apparently matchmaking only took my true skill to account when searching for players, and needless to say, the game wasn't enjoyable when my friends got constantly wrecked.
Halo 4 needs ranked/social, until that, I'm not going to play it or spend money on DLC.
