Subject: Why do people think zombies would be a threat? Let alone real...

I persist too long after my own defeat,
Yet I still press forward, staggering on my feet.
But I know that my resolution will be my end.
And once I fall, I shall ruefully transcend.

Seriously try to think of something worse to invade earth than the zerg

Covenant, flood, tyrannid, WH40K, any generic alien villains from comic books... etc

Zerg > Anything Halo, I don't know anything about tyrannid or WH40k, also we all know comic villains are overpowered but it depends on the villain.

Care to clarify? The Flood forms you see in the games aren't even half of it.

Slow moving 'Night of the living Dead' zombies that spread the infection through biting? Not a big threat.

Sprinting 'Left 4 Dead' zombies in which the virus is air-borne? Yeah, we're screwed.

We're all infected. It just a matter of time.

I wouldn't call what I have an infection, it's more of a. . . Wait. This is not the herpes thread. Nevermind. Moving on.

We are all actually infected with something but it isn't noticed until you get older and your immune system can't fight it off. Not a genetic mutation though.

Well the basic zerg unit is basically a raptor with 4 arms with blade like claws which they can rapidly produce to swarm, then there are the highly durable acid spitting roaches (like these things can take tank hits)

Not to mention hydralisks which are bigger than elites and weight like 400 kg. They can launch acid covered spikes capable of tearing through armored vehicles as well as being capable of shooting down aircraft. And we haven't even finished the ground force yet, there are the massive ultralisks and there various strains which are larger than most tanks and capable of ripping through them and buildings.

(also almost all zerg can burrow underground for surprise ambush)

Lurkers can burrow underground and launch spikes from under the ground. Then theres the airforce with things such as the mutalisks, which are capable of flying through space and launching attacks that can ricochet attacks between ships and such and when swarming can take out large battleships not to mention that the mutalisks can mutate into other strains to specialize that can deal with other threats.

And I haven't even touched on most of the new units in starcraft 2, not to mention the campaign only uber units. I mean ya the humans are able to deal with them in starcraft, but the humans in starcraft have more advanced technology than in halo.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

Seven reasons the zombie apocalypse would fail
7. Too many natural predators
Animals and bugs all over the world would be decomposing their brain loving flesh bags.
6. They can't take the heat
Leave a steak out in the summer heat and see what happens to it.
5. They can't take the cold
Leave an unsealed steak in the freezer and see what happens to it.
4. Biting is a terrible way to spread disease
Remember that time that one dog had rabies, and then a month later, every dog on the contient had it?
3. They can't heal from day to day damage
That leg is broken, buddy.
2. The landscape is full of zombie proof barriers
Cliffs, ravines, mountains, etc
1. Guns and the people who use them
Harms way is about 200 yards from the end of that barrel.

Life?
I have the internet and Doctor Who; i don't need a life.

i don't see how they would be easy to contain.
the way it usually goes, everyone who dies turns into a zombie.
a lot of people die every single day and you can't quarantine them all.

I've been playing Halo since 2002. My earliest memories include hiding at the shotgun window on Damnation and killing my dad with grenades while playing co-op on Pillar of Autumn.

The flood.

Go outside, right now, and try to bite somebody. Ten bucks says you can't do it. Now imagine your body is rotting and you can only move at a slow shamble. It'd be pretty much impossible. Can you see the problem? There's simply no way a zombie infection could propagate. Books and films tend to gloss over this fact and somehow skip to the point civilization is finished and you're running from undead hordes, regularly heading into close-quarter areas for ever-more contrived reasons and emerging minus the black guy. But that's simply not how it would work in real life.

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Please allow me to introduce Myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith

I love how often you guys keep doing this topic.

In actuality, you don't know if we could beat zombies. They're fictional. As such we really don't and can't know how we would be able to handle the dead rising. We could speculate, but no one could say for sure.

The is the equivalent of two kids arguing over which of their deceased dads would win in a fight.

That only happens in The Walking Dead. And slow zombies are only a threat when there are hoards of them. Most zombie movies skip right to when there are thousands and civilization is gone, but how did it get that bad in the first place?

  • 12.20.2012 8:04 AM PDT

Something like the passage where all the zombies have enough strength to rip a human in half, mind control to bring certain victims to their death, and enough speed to outrun a car going 40 MPH would probably have all of humanity screwed.

A real test of a man is if he is willing to scrape a sharpened razor up and down his junk just to please a woman.

Let's talk about L4D zombies.

the zombie doesn't have enough brains to make optimal use of his opposable thumbs. it shambles slowly while maggots eat the remaining flesh, yeah, and PREDATORS, feasting down to the bone. does a skeleton walk without a nervous system and muscles no no no the macho man doesn't think so.
