I was thinking that it would be awesome if Master Chief could pick up and hold jackal shields for multiplayer games. It would add more dimensions to the game.

I want to suggest it to Bungie, but I don't know where to contact them for a suggestion like this. Or do they read these forums frequently?

What about multiplayer? Most people there would use human weapons, this would change strategy.

they may deplete them, but if you have a jackal shield and a weak weapon... insted of someone with a stronger weapon you` d stand more of a chance and it would make it more interesting... but also frustratin if you got killed by someone with a weak ass weapon fun none the less...

Also you could "duel weild" it with a sword, knight style. This would make sword games more skill than who has a better connection or host. You can block it, but you must time it perfectly. IF the sword hits the shield too much, it powers down. Then eventually back up. But it would work like a rechargable battery, only so many cycles.

While holding the shield it shouldn't really block anything. But if you pull the left trigger button it moves in front of you and you go slower plus your vision is not as clear. Then it could either absorb X amount of damage before being destroyed or it could function as a plasma rifle where it overheats after taking so much damage. An overheated shield could have penalties such as being stunned or the shield is too hot to hold.

It would be sweet to have a shield guy in front of a squad to take most of the damage or to block turret fire.

Indeed. Dual Shields, what would that be like? Cover for the bomb carrier? Yup. So many possiblities(yet balanced ones) for the Jackal Shield.
krytoss that's what I was thinking, hold left trigger to shield yourself, the let go, and attack.

halofighter92, I was also thinking that while pulling the trigger for the shield, you could still fire, but again your vision might be blurred from holding the shield giving less accuracy. So it would be kinda like a counter-strike style holding a shield and shooting.

Master Chief is like 7 feet tall....the Jackals are much shorter and they have to be bent down to be covered by it. the MC would be completely sticking out from the sides of the shield...it would offer very little protection

True, the shield would not protect THAT much of MC, but it would help protect the most commonly shot areas, the head and torso. Using the shield would also encourage more tactics like forcing yourself to crouch behind it to get yourself almost completely covered from frontal attack. Of course for balancing issues there must be some open areas to attack from the front wouldn't you agree?

Yup, the side grooves for sniping is an obvious counter. And grenades.

Rizza, the Jackal Shield was never broken or in the game, how could we fix it anyway? I think it would work dandy.

Concept suggestion:

Shield-This is the Jackal's wrist generated shield(a bit bigger to conform to the height of a Spartan or Elite-but not as big as protected from head to toe). It is found in multiplayer. Gives the bearer the luxury of being harder to kill and nearly invincible to ballistic projectiles and energy bolts. Equipping it is the same as dual-wielding a weapon. But you must be using a one-handed weapon(not even Sword, Carbine or Beam Rifle), despite Jackals can use them in Campaign through their shield) in order to do so. And with the shield armed, you have a harder time seeing through it. As with Jackals-you can hurt the user by firing into the nichees of the shield on either side. Or their legs. The Shield does not recharge after it has been breached(Jackal shields do in Campaign-but not yours in Multiplay). When the Shield is breached, the user drops it automatically and he/she can not pick it up again. The shield does appear again immediately after its dropped, but the former user can no longer use it. Someone else can. The user cannot pick up the Overshield, Active Camoflague(well, you can but who's not gonna see a huge orange/blue shield floating around?), or get into vehicles while having the shield. A fair price for pay, in short of being nearly invulnerable. Shield can stop or deflect one rocket(user will not take actual shield damage) but will be immobilized. The Shield is an ideal advantage for the Juggernaut or the player bearing the Oddball or Bomb. Players with the Shield can collect the Flag.

What do you think?

I posted about having a Jackal shield before and I want it to be weapon so badly.
Having it as a dual would be awsome. If you hit trigger instead of shooting a weapon the shield can block the front of your body and your head (protection from sniper fire). As you do this it can act as a melee attack, if you hold trigger down it will stay there for protection. If the shield breaks it can have a recharge time limit sort of thing.

That sounds pretty good seven7h, however I am not sure about still being able to hold the flag or oddball while carrying a shield. That might go into balancing issues that Bungie should figure out.

But yeah, sounds good that it should be treated just like a dual wielded weapon.

What's that "concept suggestion" mean?

i wasn't talking about the shield itself, i was talking about putting the jackal shield into multiplayer. since i believe that multiplayer is good w/out the shield, i meant that putting in the jackal shield into multiplayer is unecessary
Well it would balance out some of the weapons(like the sword).
