I think the first season of LoK was poorly written,
I'll use the ending of the first season as an example, the way the equalist conflict was solved was by revealing Amon as a fraud, the problem with this is that just because Amon himself was a fraud doesn't mean that his view on the inequality between benders and normal people was somehow wrong, defeating Amon would not change the fact that people who can't bend the elements are being treated unfairly by those who can. But some how in the end everything is magically all good and people just went on with their lives.
Also, the second season most likely won't touch on any of this either since there is a 6 month time skip between the seasons and the new season has a completely new plot line that is unrelated to the first season.
There were quite a few plot holes, it was never explained how Amon removes bending other than 'using bloodbending', the fact that Tenzin's family was captured even though we clearly saw that they escaped was never explained.
Also the way Korra unlocked her airbending, as well as how she got her bending back was completely ridiculous. The reason she couldn't airbend was because she had a very headstrong mentality and always faced things head on, the key to airbending was that she need to change her mentality and learn to face her encounters with a more evasive and defensive mentality, but instead of this what happened was "the power of love overcomes all" and she punches the air and a puff of wind magically comes out.
The way she got her bending back was a complete Deus ex Machina, she stood on the edge of a cliff and cried, then aang's spirit shows up and makes everything all good again. No spiritual journey, no self reflection and seeing how she is more than just her abilities, instead just cry and everything will magically be all good again.
