It gets better

From another thread on a different site the argument came up that Saruman represented industrialization, which was unjustly portrayed as evil.

I do not think so, I believe he is the embodiment of rashness/haste. He acted without thought to Fangorn and sent all of his forces to Helms deep leaving him completely exposed to Treebeard(whose motto is "Don't be hasty") and his Ents which finally defeated him.

Thoughts?

The Wonderful LeSieg!

You're a little late, OP. Everyone here is either bashing the Hobbit or laying down their lives to make sure the Hobbit isn't bashed.

No, Saruman did represent encroaching industrialization.

He has a mind of metal and wheels; and he does not care for growing things, except as far as they serve him for the moment. And now it is clear that he is a black traitor.

He's talking about how Saruman's actions are portrayed in LOTR.

Two towers/Fellowship I don't remember which.

I saw the hobbit and it wasn't as terrible as everyone was making it out to be. I would've liked one movie instead of three.

One movie would feel INCREDIBLY rushed.

True, I just think it was made into three just for the profits rather then the quality of the story.

I doubt that.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

You don't think that that rash behaviour and haste is part of the larger critique on industrialism?
