"Whatever exists, whatever in creation exists without my knowledge exists without my consent. These anonymous creatures may seem little or nothing in the world. Yet the smallest crumb can devour us. Any smallest thing beneath yon rock out of men's knowing. Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

2). Fan Fiction
I am severely pissed with the concept of fan fiction. Many writers, I have noticed, have a generic "HALO 3 NOVEL!" plot, which attracts the salivating "readers" for miles around. As a fan fiction writer myself, I should not be one to criticise others' work. However, it must be said that many fan fictions that I have read have poor plot devices, weak spelling/grammar, and are of a general low quality. That would be fine, on the basis that people would recognize this. Do they?
No.
These "writers" are praised for their poor attempts, and receive mass amounts of credit. Other fan fictions, which involve a more original plot and are generally of a better standard, are dismissed as being "amateur". It angers me to see how good peices of fiction are thrown away, while the mediocre endures.
If I upset anyone with this section, then I apologise: offense was never my intention.
That you don't like it is natural. However, that other people don't like what you wrote, or consider good, is not really something that you should be getting mad over so much that you rant about it. Just my 1.3 cents.
3). Group Invites
Why, oh why do groups insist on messaging me with group invites?! Chances are that if your group is known at all then I'm either in it or I've dismisssed it. Group invites are worthless and irritating; stop it!
Many bigger groups even go beyond mass advertisement. Without naming anyone in particular, I've seen groups "disguise" links so that they say they go to something, and in fact link to their group. I've seen this many times. I'm sick of sein it. Stop it! Nobody cares!
A good point, but if we didn't get these group invites, how would we know they exist? If you don't like most of them, then just ignore them (and you could block the person if you want). However, while I don't like generic invites, if people would try to appeal to me as a member who would enjoy the group, and not as a mere number on a member counter (or possibility for a promotion), I would be happier about invites.
4). Forum Cops
Every forum needs moderators and administrators. It's a well-known fact. However, it really bugs the hell out of me when I see these self-proclaimed "forum cops" in the forums. Posting "ZOMG LOCK3D!!!1" in a topic that you don't like or that you think infringes on the forum rules will not help it get locked easier. Quoting the forum rules (often incorrectly) does not make you "cool". I you want to be of some help, inform the moderators of anything you think breaks the forum rules, and wait until it is dealt with. In the mean time, stop brown-nosing; nobody likes a kiss-ass.
Now I resent that one. There is a difference between people who say that and what people used to term "Forum Cops." The people originally termed "Forum Cops" were mostly helpful. They didn't just tell people to not post because they made a simple mistake. They helped people learn how the use the forums appropriately, and therefore avoid getting into trouble. Which leads me into my next rebuttal:
That's because there isn't much of a difference at all. Regardless you're replying a crap thread and bumping it to the top of the forum. What's the point in that. Nothing, all you do is bring attention to a misplaced thread and more users will begin to reply believing they are helping. If you want to be helpful, PM a Moderator about the problem and it will either be taken care of by the Moderator you messaged or someone else will pick it up.
I would also resent a point like that. Replying to a thread that breaks the rules with something that is stupid does not help the community. However, if someone does not seem to know the rules, and you post something helpful ("For future reference, X threads belong in X forum," etc.), you're enlightening a member, and therefore helping them. If I reply to a thread that was newly made with something like that, I can't bump it, because it's already at the top. If I post something helpful, and perhaps even contribute to the discussion, the member knows they made a mistake, knows how to correct it in the future, and doesn't have to feel like they are being scolded, because there is also a contribution to their thread.
