Time flies like an arrow; fruits flies like a banana.

So, I recently acquired Dawn of War (the original) through the THQ Humble Bundle, and thought it was a load of fun, if not somewhat flawed game. I'd like to buy the sequel, but ran into a problem: there are a load of standalone expansions, and I'm unsure which to buy. Does anyone know which is the best, or which to stay away from? And is the main game still worth buying?

"I will show you how a true Prussian officer fights!"

"And i will show you where the iron crosses grow..."

- "Cross of Iron"

They all add different factions so its basically up to you.

I would stay away from soul storm.

If you buy Retribution you get all the races and stuff but you don't get campaign of the first two games. So buy Retribution.
Dawn of War 2 is more of a tactic game instead of select group of soldiers and attack. You put soldiers behind cover, flank enemies and use your equipment more.
I like it and you should get it.
But don't buy it now, wait for the THQ sale and you will buy Retribution for less then 10 euro.

They're already on sale for -50%. Retribution is 9,99 at the moment. Do you think they'll go -75%?

Do not waste your tears, I was not born to watch the world grow dim. Life is not measured in years, but by the deeds of men.

We should know better, because we are better.

I started with Retribution and got the original and Chaos later. I recommend you don't get the stand alone Last Stand, because all the games come with it. You don't need to play the previous games to understand Retribution's story. Last time I checked, you can get the base game and Chaos as a pack on Steam. Honestly, I would go with Retribution.

you can currently get the lot, and pretty much every other thq game, off steam for next to nothing.
