Subject: How Do Multiple-Barreled Guns Work?

Ignore my gamertag. It's actually Dragonzzilla.

How do multiple-barreled weapons (like a gatling gun) exactly get ammo and y'know, function?

A cornered fox is more dangerous than a jackal.

And from FOX, two phantoms were born.

Science.

There is only one bolt, if that helps clarify it, only the barrels are moving and some mechanism within the gun will only allow it to fire if the barrel is correctly lined up, otherwise it works like any other gun.

I like shorts. They're comfy and easy to wear.

Gatling guns spin around allowing the ammo to be fed into each barrel. The spin can be powered by a crank, electricity, or the gas produced by firing.

So does each barrel has its own feed, or is it all shared?

There is only one feed.

And each barrel is fed as it spins past the feed.

I would think so. You get ten times the firing capabilities plus less reloading time, and it's all operated by 1-2 guys.

Yes, they allow for rapid fire without risk of barrel heat deformation. That's why theyre one of the most common vehicle mounted weapons.

What stops the heat from happening to a normal gun?

Okay.

Water works too. Also, in colder places (like high up in the sky) the air can cool the barrel before it overheats.

Per Audacia Ad Astra

The recoil from the first shot rotates the barrel and resets the catch and trigger which waits for the next shot to fire.

Some are electronic in which case a button/sensor is held and the trigger is constantly fed around onto the barrel.

?

Typically when I think of a vehicle mounted weapon, I think of a single barrel heavy machine gun. Not a gatling. I know that they still exist but are they still used today?
