Subject: Bypassing the profanity filter. Why do it?

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

This has got to be the most ridiculous thing. What's the point?
There's literally a thousand different words you could use instead of the one being filtered? What's to gain?
It seems like such a hassle to bypass it anyways.
So my question is, why do people say bad words? XD

I find that Teh-Ziod is NOT attractive for the reasons
she/he does not correct format sentences, therefore for intelligent matured members of society that may interact with her/him, may find her/him UNattractive for the reason that she/he does not comprehend with their level to successfully have a conversation therefore it will be socially an awkward interaction which may be wanted to be avoided

second i do not find it physically possible for a PERSON to be a ice cream truck.

Because.

Also, though I wouldn't bypass in the mains, I'd much rather type out a three letter word that has no reason to be filtered rather then "same sex individual" anytime I'm discussing that. Same with typing out another word for national socialist.

My thoughts exactly.

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”
- Dawes, A little bit of everything

Perhaps they lack the capacity to convey their message in any other way, or perhaps they believe that using words offensive to our decency would make us give them the attention they feel they deserve.

Perhaps there was no proper substitute.

More to the point, why do we care?

Because that bastard form of English that most folk on here speak is criminally deprived of a rich lexicon of insults that are completely ignored by the filter and also far more entertaining to use.

Also because sometimes you simply need to tell someone to -blam!- off you yobbo.

So people know what cuss word they are using, some are a lot more aggressive than others which is another reason the profanity filter shouldn't be there.

Because saying that someone is Batcrap crazy just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

The bigger question is why do you even care?

"Life to you stepson and everlasting glory. " Thifes World.

Its not always a proper form of speaking. Also there are kids who do visit this site. Bungie does not want to exclude any one.

I feel some people use certain words that are negative some how thinking in some weird way that its cool to use such to describe themselves or others.

Its one thing to stub ones toe or show outrage but to use it as a tool of flameing or trolling to me is a lack or grasp of language.

Personally i would not bypass such simply because it rather not see bungie in a law suit because they did not advertise it as being adult oriented.

Besides Bungie is a business and excluding customers or fans just would not feel right.

No, not really. Swearing is just a part of life for the vast majority of people now. Nothing to do with feeling cool.

Using the N word for example to your friends is one of those things in culture. I find it sad people do so yet do so out of ignorance. Not to say it does not have meaning but yet again 2+2=5 for some reason.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

You possess a very narrow one-sides view, and you imply that everyone cares enough to use "appropriate" words. I understand why bypassing the filter in the mains could be viewed as inappropriate, but realistically in private groups it really doesn't matter. Most people are adult enough to be exposed to profanity.

Rouge elements who for example want to identify themselves adopt a derogatory name that is born out of ignorance. History has shown that there are those who use such names to define themselves thinking a negative is positive.

It shows ignorance in the sense of the history or root of such words. Thus to gain acceptance they are willing to be dehumanized.

First of all, there's 2 n-words and using one of them is much less offensive and rude than the other. Second, people don't use it out of ignorance. The use of the n-word or profanity does not make someone ignorant, and anyone who thinks as much clearly has no idea what they're talking about. Profanity is a form of accenting and creating emphasis. You may not like it, but it's a pretty widely accepted practice in modern society.

Anyone who thinks someone who curses or says a particular supposedly offensive word is definitively ignorant specifically for doing so has no idea what they're talking about and definitely has a level of elitism far beyond anything I've ever seen.
