I know, right?
Jay acts like she's better than everyone else simply because she's a chick.
I hope she chokes to death.

Over the past two years or so, I think I've developed a different but very related problem. I tend to be too nice and end up with people thinking their in with me or even that I'm interested in them when I actually kind of want to get away. If I were a little meaner, that probably wouldn't happen as much as it does.
You don't have to be meaner, just more assertive. A simple, "that's flattering, but I'm not interested in you that way" is polite, respectful and to-the-point.

If we disagree, it's nothing personal, opinions are opinions.
Antagonizing me to build a false sense of worth is so damn cute.

Brighten your day with science.

I was actually going to post something like "Bumping it before Jay does" but then you pooped on my party :(.

TIL being nice is looked down upon in this establishment.
Not really, being nice is pretty much a baseline requirement for a decent human being.

The problem is when you start thinking that being nice is a viable selling point for yourself.

I was kidden mang. I agree with you.

Quoting because no one likes post 24.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I think it just feels mean to be assertive like that sometimes, and that's something I struggle to get over.

Gamertag: regime change
Steam name should be something similar

The OP has made a very astute observation.

These so called "Nice guys" aren't actually nice guys. They're just nice so they can play the victim.

You know, that's the reason a lot of girls seem like they're leading guys on. They just don't know how to turn someone down. (Of course, in some cases girls are also scared that if they do turn a guy down, he'll turn violent, especially if it's someone they don't know well.)

I look kind of intimidating IRL so I don't get approached by strangers often, but I've definitely been in the uncomfortable position of having some kind of miscommunication with a friend and them thinking I've meant something I haven't. It's even harder to turn someone down when it's someone you genuinely do like as a friend, and whose feelings you don't want to hurt. But in the end, it's better for everyone involved if you find a way to do it nicely and respectfully before things go too far.
