There is another way to fully eliminate the PP/BR combo, and it all has to do with animations and it has no real adverse effects on gameplay.

1. Have active time delays for the drawing of weapons and make them actually visible on the player. (ex. He must holster his Plasma Pistol before unslinging his Battle Rifle from his backpack). Another example would be to have grenades visible and include an animation of the Master Chief pulling it off of the cord on his belt, pulling the pin/activating it, and throwing it.

If this has too adverse of an effect (which I don't think it will, it may even add more strategy), try this:

2. Do not allow overheated Covenant plasma weapons to be holstered until they have cooled down.

I would personally go for the first one to add more realism to the game, but feel free to post your own ideas here.

How about just making it track like the H1 PP and that will eliminate the Combo that you keep complaining about.

I don't even think that was complaining, it was to provide a practical solution. I think it would really add a lot of realism to the game as well.

The Halo 1 PP was better cause it only took down half your shield. It was still quite a bit for such a crappy weapon.

The game would become slower, this is Halo, a fast paced shooter.

No...It took down your entire shield...

You shouldn't be able to switch weapon until the PP has cooled down...simple as that.

If there was a long pause for grenades, the grenades would be useless....

I know that it is a sci-fi story, but since when have you ever seen someone pull a weapon out of his back? You forget that the Spartans are super fast so it could be slowed down slightly, but not like a normal Marine's reaction time.

The story is sci-fi, but that does not mean that the gameplay can't be true to militaristic tactics, if Bungie didn't follow their criticism we probably would not have the weapon set we now have in Halo 2.

The Master Chief should have a holster or backpack to store his weapon in. It does not seem right otherwise.

As for Legendary, make them more intelligent and in greater numbers the farther up you go. One of the reasons that Halo 2 Legendary was not fun is because your enemies were impossibly strong. They could do it like this.

1. Easy - Enemies may perform basic tactics, but will be mostly harmless.
2. Normal - Aliens will be in greater numbers but will still use basic tactics.
3. Heroic - Aliens will be in even greater numbers and will perform tactical maneuvers on you (cover fire, flanking, etc.)
4. Legendary - Enemies will be more accurate, in greater numbers, and will have an arsenal of tactical maneuvers to try to stop you with.

Think about it, Halo 2 Legendary relied on the PP/BR combo, what fun is there in using only one or two weapon sets?

My gametag is not sparda34b, it was an error, gamertag is Sparda3b.

The best way I can think of is on multi-playa only the plasma pistol only brings down shield by half per charge this way it is balanced they CAN bring your shields to zip but it will take to long they MIGHT die frist.

Errrr..no. I hate the PP/BR combo, but it gets ridiculous trying to fix that with suggestions like that. Just tone down the honing capabilities of the PP, so I can have respect for those who use the combo. It'd actually take some ability.

Ah, look at the lonely people...

I think the best way to handle the PP/BR combo is to make it so that you can't switch weapons until after plasma weapons cool down.
