Are we..are we even disagreeing?
I know elephants have taken revenge on humans. Like I said, they aren't better than us. Animals are just like us because we're animals.
Perhaps we're all, but what makes us worse is the fact that we realize what we do is wrong, yet we persist on doing said things.
Of course, there's many untainted individuals out there, however, humans, in general, are corrupted in more ways than one.
Many humans are irresponsible with the power they possess over other animals.I say that the ability to realize right from wrong is what makes us superior to animals. They are guided solely by their instinct and nature.
We as humans, have the ability to realize right from wrong. We have the capability of donating to charities, food drives, helping with the poor, donation to causes (AIDS, cancer, etc.). All of this makes us better.
Mourning and vengeance is not instinct... unless you're implying that caring for something is instinctive, which would then indicate humans are of that same level. Why did I bring up elephants? They don't take vengeance on behalf of only their offspring- this is not offspring-specific. They mourn the death of heard-mates and even strangers, as well.
The reason why many elephants go berserk in captivity is due to mistreatment earlier in their lives. They remember those things and they apply them to emotions. Emotionality is not a human-specific trait and neither is selfless caring.
It's their habit. They are emotionally bound animals, more so than humans.
Same applies to birds. Red tailed hawk females will mourn a dead mate for a year before even considering being open for breeding again.
