"So much of what we do is ephemeral and quickly forgotten, even by ourselves, so it's gratifying to have something you have done linger in people's memories." John Williams

Bungie Pro is currently in a retired state from Bungie's past Halo era. Our beloved add on service that you pay additional cost for has created new experiences on bungie.net.

Sawnose, who is the superuser in charge of Bungie Pro's rendering service, left us with these kind words as we broke away from Bungie Pro in it's last form:

Posted by: sawnose

As Bungie sunsets our involvement in the Halo universe, we wanted to take a moment to give extra thanks to our power users who signed up for the Bungie Pro add-on service. The last wave of Halo-generation Bungie Pro subscriptions will be expiring shortly, but rest assured that it's only going into hibernation - when we're ready, we'll reveal a new suite of services, including ones we'll proudly launch under the Bungie Pro banner. Bungie Pro has always been about providing a way to offer premium services that just can't be free for everyone, like using Bungie machines to render gameplay footage to video. (You've created 10 Terabytes of Halo video clips on Bungie.net!)

At the same time, we will remain committed to keeping our core web offerings open to all of our users. At Bungie we're proud of our long-term memory, and when the time comes for Bungie Pro to yawn, stretch, and blink its eyes in the light of a new morning, we'll do something special for the people who gave it such a successful first run. Thanks for joining us for the ride so far.

Now begs the question... what's next? There will be new features that we haven't even heard of, but what?

There comes a time in every mans life... and that time is not now.

Render in 3D.

Per Audacia Ad Astra

Improved services, render times, render quality, bonus content, Bungie.net exclusives, things like that.

Maybe make it so you can combine all your videos into one video, kind of like a montage. Also have a separate page for all your rendered videos, that way you can add more videos to your fileshare and still be able to watch all your old clips even though they aren't on your fileshare anymore. Also having a forum where you could embed your video would be nice.

YES!

Sure why not?

Yes, its was pretty sweet to be able to show people my videos from the website, instead of having to wait for them to go on the xbox and download it. It was very convenient.

NON FACET NOBIS CALCITRARE VESTRUM PERNĒ¢UM

Maybe Name change ability or higher quality rendering (1080?)

Astronomy Picture of the Day!

Kind of a simple request, but I would love it if I was notified here on Bnet every time a friend uploaded something new, via subscription to their fileshare.

I know I would have liked to know right away when a friend uploaded a hilarious gameplay video, or when my favorite forgers released a new map in Reach or Halo 3. Word of mouth file sharing was alright, but I think subscription based file sharing would have done wonders for communities such as ForgeHub.

If Bungie follows the lead of other game companies the news release will look something like this:

"With the upcoming release of our next game we at Bungie have something very special for you! For a fee of only $10 a month you can be a 'Bungie Pro Member'. The benefits include being able to view your stats online, having access to previous game records, and the ability to upload user created videos and screenshots to a 'file share'!"

Then we say, "Bungie...dude. We already had all of that and it was free!"

Then Bungie says, "Yeah, but then we realized that you guys pay for that service on every other game you play. Momma needs a new pair of shoes!"

To which we reply with our head hung low, "Oh. Alright. Well, here's my $10."

> What new features do you feel would benefit the community as a whole?Too early for me to say. Once we know what Destiny will be and what type of features the game will rock, it's hard for me to want anything. Maybe more integration with Youtube or something along those lines.

> Would you like video rendering to return?Definitely

> Should benefits be added to forum features? (custom avatar, sigs, nameplates etc)Only if it allows people to change their usernames. Something in-game would be nice too.

> Did you use Bungie Pro previously, how has it changed your bungie.net expierence?Didn't really change my Bungie.net experience at all. More my Halo experience.

I wonder what the surprise Sawnose was referring to for those who had it before it went into hibernation will be.

The ability to be ripped off like "Elite" and every other DLC extra pack that should be released initially in game.

Destiny will be published by Activision via Bungie. You really don't think this will be done?

Notification system in it's finest form. I feel that trying friends list features would keep users coming here. So maybe adding a sub to a user "IE-follow, etc" so every time they upload content it would send a notification to you so you can check it out, even if you're not an Xbox Live friend.

I would love the ability to get a username change with Bungie Pro. In fact, I remember Achronos mentioned playing around with the idea before.

I don't really care either way if Bungie introduces an "official" website friends list since I keep tabs on most of the people I care about here through XBox Live and Skype. Just from the file sharing aspect of Bungie Pro, it would be really nice to be immediately presented with a download link to one's favorite content creators newest uploads.

I also think that Bungie Pro integrating with private groups in various ways would be a great idea. I remember Achronos mentioning a while back how he wants more private groups to be places where users can get together to play Bungie's games, not just off-topic discussion boards. I think having features like group-wide fileshares and being able to embed files into group forums would benefit everyone, getting people to play more together while giving groups more purpose.

I wonder if those who had Bungie Pro back in the Halo days will get some sort of bonus, such as early access or a discounted price?
