This is wrong. You can be put on the sex offenders list if someone reports you, even if you don't do anything. This is too far.

Lazy parents not teaching their children how to live are getting their hand held by the government. Give me back videogames for predators, flavored tobacco, and king sized candybars. Could have just restricted predators to mature rated games, and left it at that.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Pretty sure you have to be convicted of a crime to end up on the list.

No more stalking

That gets a little more difficult when he knows your real name and phone number.

My friends all thought it was funny. I'll never forget hearing him yell at his mom because she got him a coke instead of a gatorade and claimed she was trying to kill him. Those were dark times.

Exactly

People no longer want to be accountable or responsible, so that is why they want big brother to be. I think the parents should be responsible for their children. Maybe some parents will wake up before buying Johnny Blops II.

Yes, a conviction is required to be put on that list.

Some people take something and twist it to a whole new level. How do we know these were actual kids and not people lying just to get other banned?

Well I would of (and assumed you did) report him to the authorities.

You can be put on the sex offenders list for getting drunk and pissing in an alley, does that really make you the lowest form of scum?

Agree completely, the only problem is that parents aren't being held more responsibility. They want the government to be in charge in monitoring their kids, they don't want to do it.

I think parents should make sure little johnny does not get an M rated game or doesn't play online.

So they're going to ban the adults in an adult game to protect the children? Who the hell came up with that idea?

  • 12.20.2012 5:47 PM PDT

I need to know what happened exactly before I can judge.

I think it is important to know what crime it was because sex offender is a broad range of offences which could be as innocent as being drunk or streaking or doing something stupid such as a combination of the 2.

In general, part of a sex offender's punishment is not being able to be in places where children are likely to be. Is a parent really supposed to not let their kids do things like play games online because of sex offenders?

Exactly what responsibility aren't parents handling here? Are they supposed to ask everyone their kid sees online if they are a sex offender?

Are there any examples of something an adult has said to a minor over Xbox Live or Psn?

I have yet to hear of one example of a child meeting with an adult in real life because of xbox live.

I would say yes

When you buy a game with online, it says online experience is not rated. Parents are responsible for what their kids play online since they buy them the game.

Parents should explain to their child about online safety or not allow them to play online.

By buying them an M rated game or a game with online and allowing their child to play, they are giving their connect and acknowledging their child will be playing with people world wide.

I think parents should be more educated about the dangers of online gaming for their child and keep their little kids off xbox live all together.

I believe the kid went over when they were at work. At least, if I recall correctly.

They are letting their children have unsupervised play time with people between the ages of 8 and 80. Would you let your child talk to random people on the telephone? Would you let your child sit unattended in public? No, because those are contrary to safety and common sense.

Good parenting should be a law I swear. They should always teach their kids to not do anything with a stranger.

Glory and fame, blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of men, a warrior's friend!
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers!
Sons of the gods, today we shall die.
Open Valhalla's door!
Let the battle begin, with swords in the wind! Hail Gods of War!

Wow, so not only is your entire future screwed, you are shunned by your fellow man, and are banned from online gaming. Jesus, sex really is considered to be worse than violence in this world, isn't it.

This is a tad too far. You can sneeze at a kid and be labeled as a sex offender these days (hyperbole, but you get the point.) and the results just get worse. I'd like to see the TOU agreement that covers a company being able to ban these people.
