Subject: Holden Caulfield is a hero (updated)

Just finished The Catcher In The Rye, and I have to say, I don't understand all the hate for its protagonist. He's an incredibly deep and completely correct character. He really is.

I mean, look at him. A guy sleeps with the girl that Holden loves, and Holden writes the guy's damn composition paper. He's considerate to others, and legitimately feels sympathetic to people that others would simply disdain. Agree?

GOAT

He's not deep or correct.

That said, I love him.

It's a literary classic, and literally the best book ever written.

The Secret Society 95% of activity is me, I could use some help.

Holden is amazing. His hilarious observations are stupid but oddly correct. I don't really know how to describe him better, he's simply Holden.

I'll never know the satisfaction of finishing a book other than Deception Point by Dan Brown.

It's not that I cannot read; I simply cannot fathom text alone.

I think I love you...

He's an emo prick. What do you see in him?

He's not emo. He's actually a very generous person. He wrote a composition paper for the guy who's sleeping with his girlfriend, for God's sakes. He can be a bit judgmental, sure. But that's because every other character in the book is an ass.

Both the character and the book are dreadfully terrible. There is nothing interesting about them and I was glad to finally be done with that book so that I can never deal with it again.

You should like Holden, how he'd always be like, "Jane was the best. She really was."

The Wonderful LeSieg!

I really don't think we're supposed to enjoy Holden.

Lol, yeah. I was actually trying to imitate him there.

I really don't think we're supposed to enjoy Holden.

Most of society doesn't, because he acts as an antithesis to society's social code, even though he's an extremely nice guy. It's a statement on how nice people have it rough in our culture.

Since it's been some years since I've read that book I'll just give you the benefit of the doubt on that one.

''Hell is other people.''

Holden Caulfield isn't a Hero. He's just a lonely, angsty, Teenager.

Shakes Magic 8 Ball

I read that back a while ago. I was the only person who did actually read it in class.
