Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

"The Pen Is Mightier Than The Sword."

Are words indeed mightier than action? Or are they just a call for more action?

For instance, you threaten me with a sword, in turn, I write a story that gets you overthrown. But, what overthrew you? More men with swords.

So, is the statement totally true, or is it an oversimplification?

I order crossbow.

Sign with pen.

Shoot you with crossbow.

So, if you count all uses of a pen, yes, the pen is mightier than the sword.

Absolutely true. Words are more powerful than we'll ever realize.

Good point brah.

It depends on the person. I can't use my words to get action out of others, but some people have that power.

There comes a time in every mans life... and that time is not now.

If i threaten you with a sword, i stab you with my sword before you can send your mighty letter. Sword: Mightier than pen.

''Hell is other people.''

I believe Words bring forth action. But then "Actions speak louder than words". So, in my opinion, the "Pen is mightier than the sword" is just an oversimplification depending on one's viewpoint.

I Love Lamp. And Ender's Game. Don't tell Lamp.

I thought actions speak louder than words...

Don't LOL if you aren't L'inOL.

Halo: Reach
Halo 3
Halo ODST

Why does one have to be more powerful than the other? Both are pretty powerful.

So you went to the trouble of clicking on my profile, either to send a group invite or hate message, or to check my Halo stats and call me a BK. I like Peanut Butter Waffles.

I don't think that's what it's saying. I think it basically means that words can truly change the way people think more than physical violence.

The pen starts the war, the sword carries it out. So in a way the pen is mightier.

Don't judge a book by its cover, unless it has bacon on the cover, then it is a good book.

oversimplification. Many times it is the "sword" that sparks the conflict and the pen ends it. The Assassination of Arch Duke Ferdinan sparked WWI, not a pen

Also, this thread made me think of Skyrim. Words of power right there.

"It is the cruelest fate, to have written words that meant well and see them made wicked and unwise. What was meant to encourage life, used instead to justify taking it."

In a symbolic sense: words can often prevent conflict rather than start it. My historical knowledge is a bit fuzzy, but I recall Pope Leo convinced Attila the Hun to stay out of Rome with words rather than the sword.

In a literal sense: sword > pen.

Then by what you said, it can be argued that the pen started World War II, due to the neutering of the German economy and military by the Versailles treaty.

I don't know whether the saying is true.

I just know that you have to be careful when you write that "the pen is mightier than the sword". If you don't get all the spaces right, you could write something completely different than what you mean.
