So Flood... let us see if you get the right answer.

Suppose you're on a television show and you're going to try and win a prize. Behind one door is a brand new car! But behind the other doors are vicious lemurs. You pick Door #1. The host opens Door #3 - it had one of those evil lemurs in it. He then says to you, "Do you want to switch to Door #2?" Is it to your advantage to switch your choice?

Discuss the correct answer and why.

LeaveItYeah

I remember seeing this on mythbusters.

I would stick to my original choice though.

Yes I switch.

Mythbusters.

If I picked door 1, then why did he open door 3?

Meh, stupid Mythbusters. I hate that walrus man and his nerd friend.

To show you what was behind one of the doors you did not pick. It is part of the assumptions that develop the problem into what it is.

You switch as it effectively doubles your chances of winning. This problem is fairly old and threads like this are pointless when everyone has access to Google.

I can kill a lemur but if two comes out then I would have a problem. So I would throw the host at the first lemur and open door #1 since I asked for it in the first place.

The world is full of mysteries, and shares too few of the answers required. An example of which, is how did I end up in the Brute Zone?

Open all doors, push the host into the lemurs as bait, and get in car to make an escape whilst said host gets attacked.

Logic.

Non Nobis Nascimur - We are not born for ourselves.

Switch. You had a 2/3s chance of getting it wrong the first time, switching puts it in your favor.

It's still 1/2 regardless of whether you pick door 1 or 2.

Talking about Sweden is an ultrabannable offense.

Too bad being completely and utterly wrong isn't a bannable offense.

Why the hell am I playing this game when I'm at risk of being attacked by vicious lemurs?

At least someone has sense.

You're both wrong.

You had a 1/3 chance if getting right at first, so there's a greater probability of the prize being behind one of the two doors you didn't choose. The host then showing you that one of the doors you didn't pick doesn't have the prize behind means that there's then the greatest probability of it being behind the last of two doors that you didnt't pick first time around.

Don't punch a British kid, the queen'll come after you.

Better chance if you switch

Don't believe me? Test with this simulation

Even after only 15 tries you get about 66% cars and 34% goats if you change every time.

You should stay, anyone who says otherwise is retarded.
How does it feel to be mathematically wrong?
