And since the NRA guy couldn't come up with a good defence for guns he just blamed video games

It's one of the possibilities that makes shootings happen.

I don't know about you guys, but After playing Battlefield 1942 I'm going to invade the Pacific Islands and take back the islands we got from Japan. Of course I'm going to be using WW 2 era weapons and vehicles in order to do this. Anybody want to join me?

How much would it cost to give the security guards that are already there a pistol? It's not like it would be freakishly expensive and odds are it would not be needed.

This is the most insanely idiotic ploy to sell more guns than any I have heard about in recent memory.

I think it's about as reasonable as calling for a ban on gun sales as a result of someone with mental instabilities doing something terrible. Improving campus security, and effectively monitoring who is on/entering campus will do a better job of keeping students and faculty safe than curbing legal gun sales.

The students will have access to weapons? What?

I mean, if you're in a tough spot, just steal a fracking assault rifle, right?
not the students.

No frack, but do you honestly think having guns at a school is a good idea? Students can just disarm a guard or steal a gun and go rampage.

Just?

How often do you hear of an officer (or civilian) who is attacked with the goal being to obtain their weapon?

An unarmed person who attacks an armed individual in order to get the weapon from the person who is armed? Darwin material.

So does being alive, should we ban being alive?

You left out the Mental Illness part in my quote, if you honestly think that there isn't a problem with people who go onto mass shootings then thats your own fault. If someone has a mental illness and decides to go on a rampage then they shouldnt be playing video games in the first place. and not once did i say ban video games

That guard would be a trained police officer. And I don't think it'll be easy for anyone - let alone a teenager to over power the officer, steal his and shoot at people.

We didn't have "gun free zones" and we didn't have mass shootings either.

In the US, gun massacres at schools pre-date any sort of gun control laws. Many of the pre-1900s school shooting were armed teachers shooting each other or students over minor disagreements. So if your premise is that school shooting, even massacres, are linked to gun bans on school property, I think it is historically flawed.

how about an armed guard every 15 feet?

TRU7H. CARNAGE. BUNGIE

theoretically this would be a decent idea, but since it's m'Murica we're talking about, it'll fail miserably.

If a person is going to shoot up a place then the person is already mentally unstable. Video games does not cause people to become mentally unstable. Any sane person can tell the difference from doing something in a video game and doing it in real life. The only thing they might do is inspire an event. But the same can be said about anything else.

If people are claiming video games cause violence. Then they have to blame music, books, movies, society, history and everything else that involves humans and their nature.

I think they're going to ask the president for more money, but idk I doubt this would actually happen if anything at all the teachers would be armed

Well that's a terrible idea, seems like something you would see in Uganda.

My thoughts exactly, "lolwtf is America being occupied by a new government?"

I did see this somewhere else too , the whole have soldiers guard the school-thing.

I don't get why the answer to protecting our kids and other students from guns is to have more guns.

Honestly, have metal detectors, make it harder to get a gun (like doing a mental health test or something), it's stupid to have more guns in a school environment.

You look around. You fire your weapon before you realize.
Its just me. I fall and you walk up. You cry why.
When i pop up. You look at me in wonder. I say,"ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL."
You bend to my will and go to a cliff, walk off, and fall.
The last thing you hear is me stating as fact,"All will fail the battle of life, you just went early"

In all honesty, that would be a bigger mistake than assigning an officer to every campus. Arming a teacher doesn't only change their job description considerably, but it also can change their dynamic with their students. I'd rather have a teacher there to teach, and have a professional provide security.
