New European rules mean insurers will no longer be able to take a customer's gender into account when calculating their premiums.

The changes mean that women are likely to see their car insurance costs rise.

Basically women now pay more to equal men in how much they pay for insurance. Not only was women only insurances sexist and discriminating men but it says women are better drivers then men.

Fact of the matter is there are more men in this country than there are women and probably more male drivers, so statistically men will have more accidents.

I have seen horrible women drivers and sometimes I wonder how they even pass and yet they can get cheaper insurance based on gender.

Do you think this is a good thing that sexism has been eliminated when it comes to car insurance??

If we disagree, it's nothing personal, opinions are opinions.
Antagonizing me to build a false sense of worth is so damn cute.

Brighten your day with science.

Of course it's a good change if we're shooting for equality, however there are many other forms of discrimination against women that haven't been properly addressed yet, which explains why some women would be upset.

Also, what is the point of your post? You're talking about 'eliminating sexism' from car insurance while making blatant generalizations about women drivers.

iPhone 4S 64GB Black.

Of course, the European Union.

"There's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I'd like to think that I walk that line every day."

Why not just lower the cost for m- oh, yeah, money. Of course.

OT: I've seen horrible drivers of both sexes, so, there.

~Thread-killer~

That's kinda funny.

Hell the only wreck I've ever been in involved 4 other women , all in separate cars. Idk who did the study saying they drive better, because they obviously didnt come to parts of Texas to document it .

  • 12.21.2012 9:33 AM PDT

What I don't understand about women is that they can't park between two lines but can parallel park between two cars.

Im saying women are just as bad of drivers as men are or just as good.

Younger people are called worse drivers while people assume the older ones are safer which is more likely the opposite.

Im not being sexist by saying there are bad women drivers to.

Just remember, no matter how much these feminists scream that they are fighting for gender equality, they are really the most sexist, non-egalitarian people in western civilization.

Most women I know can't park if their lives depended on it, 5 women in the family can't park and the men are always driving.

Insurance premiums aren't calculated based on how many people yell "stupid -blam!-!" at the driver, it's based on accidents. Regardless of your anecdotal evidence, men and young drivers drive more aggressively and take more risks, resulting in a higher collision rate.

Also, I was referring to the fact that you're trying to defend the male gender as the 'better driver' by using statistics that simply aren't true. At the driving age, there are more women than men in America. There are also more women in the world than men. Additionally, this is irrelevant because accident rates are determined by percentage, not absolute numbers.

Gender should not play a roll in anything at all, why should a woman pay less because of her gender? They say its an incentive to drive safer, so does that mean they won't drive safely now?

Also young drivers tend to drive safely because of how expensive the insurance is, if their parents pay the insurance for them they are more likely to have an accident.

If it's your own money your more responsible, its as simple as that.

and I was right about more men driving than women. oh and it is relevant because if the number of accidents is higher because of a higher number of genders than how does that mean men are worse drivers?? There just happen to be more opportunities for men to be involved in an accident.

That's absolutely not true, and serves as nothing more as an excuse for bigotry to hind behind a shield of make-believe persecution.

Do you even know what feminism is? Or is it just some mysterious philosophy you can't be bothered to appreciate and would rather use it as a catch-all for your collective misogyny? Are there sexist feminists? Absolutely. But those people betray the message of their philosophy just as much as Westboro Baptist "Christians" or any other example of hypocrisy that I can think of.

They're trying to pass this off as a victory for gender equality but the only winners here are the insurance companies. They could have easily lowered men's rates to meet women's rather than the other way round.

Oh course we know what feminist philosophy is. It all revolves around this "patriarchy" that doesn't even exist in the real world, and hasn't since the 1950's. Of course you would try to defend your misandric philosophy by calling us misogynists, but we are the true egalitarians, not you.

They had two options:
1. Raise female rates to male rate = Moar $$$$$
2. Lower male rates to femal rates = Less $$$$$

Hmmm, I wonder which one they'll choose....

Anyone who herp derps on about how they should have just cut men's rates is ignorant of the industry. The insurance industry operates on razor thin profit margins.

You should be able to write insurance on any factor that has a correlative effect on accident rates. Personally, I think you should be able to write insurance on race as well.

Lol damn someone is butthurt. As for your question yeah I know what feminism is. I never said the majority of feminists are sexist, but there are a lot of them. That can be seen in how a lot of them want equal rights, but whenever there are laws put in place that make women more equal to men in a negative way such as paying more they complain. That is being sexist. As for the shield of make-believe persecution how so? You even admitted there are sexist feminists.
