I'm not sure how or why this idea popped into my head last night but I was thinking that maybe instead of looking at your and other people's names in the pregame lobby, Halo 3 should have this. When you join someones lobby you should walk through a door and you should be in an actual room with all the people in the lobby with you. It could be an all black fairly lighted room with a wall that has the game you are about to play projected on it with all the players in the room's names on your screen at all times and over their heads. In this lobby your simply you normal Spartan except that you cannot use weapons or melee ect. Your simply in a room hanging with the people in it with you. The host could have a crown over his Spartan and when the gametype is changed to teams the room is divided into colored sections (The team colors) and each person walks to the side they want to join. Just a cool idea that popped up into my head to make the game a little more interesting. What do you guys think?

It sounds like what most people do in custom games anyway...

They did this in Mechassault 2 and it's very... pointless.

Its only pointless to people who don't enjoy that kind of thing. I happen to enjoy that kind of thing.

It's an interesting idea, but you know what it really reminds me of?

Something Nintendo would do.

It would be okay, but I think there would have to be some sort of loader for this lobby of yours. And about the team thing, if you walk into a team room that you want to join, the 'door' to the room would have to close permanently once the team has a certain number of players.

small things could make the idea better, like having little bulletins on the wall stating custom messages or achievements in the game as well as your own colors for the room and whatnot...

...but i still wouldn't like it as much as halo 2's way, which just seems practical for that type of game...to the point

I'll be on my own side.

This is exactly like DOA4's lobby system. It may not be much, but it gives people something to do when they're bored. Trust me, the DOA4 lobby can be fun with the right people.

It could be a good idea if implemented correctly. Heres an interesting idea... at the end of a custom game or matchmaking, a white door opens in the middle of the level, right in front of you, and everything else in the game is slowly deteriorating so that their is nothing but the white door, and when you walk through, your back in the lobby. No load times or anything. Then when you connect to a matchmaking game, you should get in a pelican and it flies you to your level, and drops you off as your first spawn.

It probably wouldnt work, but it sounds good on paper.

i say keep it the way it is.

you don't want to wait an extra 3 months just to be able to have an actual lobby, do you?

You mean like before you start a game your in a room with the rest of the players? But you can actually see if their a Spartan or an Elite?

What I would like would be one lobby for each team, and an interactive map in that room showing the level you're about to play (including symbols for where each person would spawn). That way you can do a quick brief / battleplan while the timer counts down to game launch.

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed, knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each brave fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives: not men, or flags.
-The Next War

not bad, must be implemented correctly or it might seem childish and not halo-esque

yeah and elites would be there to,also maybe the elites/spartans could do some things if the game takes a while to start like arm wrestle, play mercy, and maybe check there armour and stuff.
