Was the murder victim innocent?

I persist too long after my own defeat,
Yet I still press forward, staggering on my feet.
But I know that my resolution will be my end.
And once I fall, I shall ruefully transcend.

Not on my behalf. I've experienced firsthand

I am the God Emprah of Mankind.

Deal with it.

Losing 1 life is worth saving 10.

Though, losing none would be best, but that never happens.

Vote for me for a free cookie.

Then the murderer would just save people just to get out of trouble. They wouldn't be genuinely good.

  • 12.21.2012 8:10 PM PDT

No. Murder is unforgivable. But not unredeemable.

I'm an Anarchist. I don't need a government to be a good person, but I'm glad it's here because some of you clearly do.

No because a murder case needs to be examined and scrutinized, not dismissed because of Rule Number XX.

"There's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I'd like to think that I walk that line every day."

I don't think it's so black and white.

  • 12.21.2012 8:10 PM PDT

lolnope.

What's been done before has been done. There's no way of going back and changing these things. All we can do is wake up the next day, and try to do right each time. That's how I look at it considering all of the terrible, stupid things I've done. Keep clean, do the right things, and do enough good and I think it can at least absolve you of past mistakes but it's up to you to determine when enough is enough to wipe the slate clean.

I mean I think doing good and I mean a lot of it can absolve you of past sins, but in terms of the law, I still think it should apply. Punishment I guess, should still apply. For example, if a dude was an ex pedo, he already did his time in jail, but he vouched to never do anything bad ever again, he stuck to it, and lived his life to the expectations of the "normal" people in society, I think that he should be given the chance and/or opportunity to go about his life.

I'm assuming this person murdered that person to defend those 5 lives.

But if they were completely separate and irrelevant events, I'd think this person is crazy or unbalanced.

I'm just saying, can any amount of good take away any punishment for being evil?

EDIT: I didn't mean like this.

RULE #3895179

If someone saves 5 lives throughout their lifetime and kills 1 person, then they shall have no punishment.

Such a case would be considered necessary homicide, rather than murder.

Cases like this have been made before. A year or two a guy a guy shot a drunk and enraged Vietnam Veteran who was violently trying to break into his house while he, his children, and his wife were terrified. He wasn't charged with anything, because it was considered a necessary homicide.

Ultimately the answer remains "no" because of the premise of this discussion. The murderer is evil, so obviously he should not be pardoned.

Wow, people are getting really into this.

I'm surprised some of you think that if a man repents for his crime and does good, he is still guilty.

But you're entitled to your opinions.

While I'd love to. Asking me to engage in a complex conversation past 6 PM will only result in a mumbled mass of complaints and stupidity.

For example, it took me 7 times to spell stupidity in that last sentence.

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Please allow me to introduce Myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith

I think that nearly everyone can find redemption. Only the very worst are beyond forgiveness. I don't see Dahlmer or Hitler, even Stalin finding any forgiveness, but a guy who murders could and should be offered the chance.

GOAT

Depends on the severity of their actions.

Theft and harassment I can forgive.. but I don't think any amount of good could redeem a murder in my opinion.
