It had its flaws, like armor lock, bloom (the idea was good, the execution was poor), wonky grenade physics, and slow movement speed. But overall, it's still a fairly good game. I liked the weapon sandbox, graphics were good, Forge mechanics were a huge improvement from Halo 3, the Falcon was awesome, the multiplayer netcode was great (Had none of the BS from Halo 3 like poor hit-detection, double reload, blood shots, etc), plus more.

I respect that Bungie at least tried to do something new with the Halo formula, which I felt had gotten stale by the end of Halo 3's life. Even though it has issues, it still has the soul of a Halo game to me.

Bloom, OP AAs, slow movemement speed and bad maps made it a lacklustre Halo game. Was still a good game in the grand scope of things though, just not for a Halo game.

Reach is best halo overall.

Armor Lock was an in game pause button and bloom added randomness into a competitive shooter.

Boring.

Corny stereotyped characters I couldn't care about, a story that I wasn't interested in, slightly ugly graphics, a multiplayer with armor abilities and not the best in vehicular combat. Overall it didn't live up to its proceeders. Halo 4 in my opinion, may be equal or possibly worse as Halo Reach. Halo 4's multiplayer was based on the individual players experience (ordinance drops), not the strategy of the team, ultimately leaving the traditional formula which made it brilliant behind. Also a story that Isn't overly exciting. Master Chief as a character isn't as cool as he was due to 343 needing to explore him and his relationship with Cortana. Yes, some say it needed to change, boost and start a new fresh halo and chief, but its changed for the worse. Halo 4 simply isn't cool or as awesome as it was due to it being made for the masses. I'm seeing many flaws in its multiplayer and its campaign. It was just a little dull. I think 343 should listen to its players and see how they want the game to be like, especially when they have 2 more games to be released in the future.

Pass the controller bro

It was mostly the little things all together that made it somewhat frustrating to enjoy. It's technically impressive, at least. The story and the characters weren't what people really thought they would be like. You can see it was an ambitious project, but nothing can help the fact that the final game came off as a bit of a shallow experience. The multiplayer tried something different, but the end result was kind of wonky.

The potential was there, but I suppose they looked at it from the wrong angle.

Of course, Bungie's fan base is quite analytical. Not everyone experienced the same level of disappointment, specifically those who weren't as invested into the games and joined in a bit later.

Like most people here have already said: It's a good game, but in our eyes, not the definitive Halo game it set out to be.

I like how people complain about bloom as if the players they went up against didn't have it too. I suppose these angry players think that spamming the trigger is a skill. Reach was a good game and it actually worked.

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

Bloom was a good idea but poorly implemented. I could spam 5 shot on big maps but missed up close? That means the bullets would actually come out of the gun at an angle then correct back to the centre at long range?

Bloom also slowed the pace of Halo right down making it really boring.

Halo: CE Anniversary Achievement Idea
C-C-C-CANNON BREAKER!
Let Sgt. Johnson die on Halo.

I think my biggest problem with it was the Campaign. I just could not get attached to any of the characters no matter how many times I played through it.

Why not stop by my File Share while you're here?

~Long Live Halo 2
Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

It's horrible in almost every aspect. The only thing it did right was Active Roster and it's netcode.

Country: United States.
State: Pennsylvania.
County: Warren.
I graduated from high school on June-11-2011. I'm 19 right now. I'm turning 20 in December. I like playing video games, and board games. I like reading Sci-Fi, and World War II novels, and what not.

"There is nothing better in the world than being better at a video game than someone else....oh wait"

My problems with it:
Both:
-Sprint should have been default.

-Focus Rifle: That is one of the most useless weapons I used in a video game. The only thing it was really designed to do was lower shield. The only time it's useful is when you have infinite ammo in Firefight.

-Plasma Repeater: It's just about as useless as the Focus Rifle. There was no point of having it when the Plasma Rifle is pretty much the same thing, but more powerful.
_______________________
Campaign:
-The AI was completely useless. They couldn't drive or kill. If I let the AI drive I'm dead. If I let them gun I'm dead. Jun has this thing called a sniper rifle which is used at long distances. But he uses it at shotgun range.

-I know the games override the books. But I do not like how the game took a giant -blam!- on the Fall of Reach novel. It's sad they had to rewrite the novel and you have to read Halsey's journal for Reach to make sense.

-I hated the story. You had no clear objective at all until you retrieved Cortana near the end of the game. And that's when the game actually gets a plot to it. The only thing you were doing was being Colonel Hollands term for a female dog.
_______________________
Firefight:
It went form a survival/see how long you can go. To a point whoring fest. The majority of the maps are not made for holding up a location. They are made for running around and seeing how many points you can get.
_______________________
Multiplayer:
-The vehicles are made out of something weak, like paper mache...or Raditz...

-Sword block: It's one of the dumbest game mechanics I seen in a game. The Energy Sword is a one hit kill anywhere on the body, but as soon as someone puts their arm up. It magically stops it from killing them.

-The majority of the default multiplayer maps are campaign areas. I don't care that they were designed first and built into the campaign. It's incredible lazy and unoriginal.

-Bloom: It's just one big derp of a system. It wouldn't be so bad if it was a recoil effect that you can control. Like the SMG in Halo 3. If you fired it it traveled up your screen(I believe that's how the DMR was in the beta.) or like the FAL in Black OPS. It's pretty accurate when you paced it, but when you spammed it. The weapon moved all over your screen. Any of those 2 things allows the player to control it and to know where the bullets are ending up, but bloom is completely random. Instead of reducing spam it increased it.

-I like the idea of armor abilities, but Bungie screwed them up:
*Sprint should have been default.

*Armor Lock was one of the worst things you can add to a game.

*The drop shield should have worked like this. It would basically act like AL, but you would deploy the shield instead. Which means you can't move while it's activated.

-The DLC was not wroth buying at all. Anybody that bought them got screwed. They removed the DLC playlist which was the only real way to play on the map pack maps. Having a DLC map come up in the non-DLCplaylist is next to impossible. They should have done what they did with Halo 3. Which was have playlist that required the DLC.

Meh, the story isn't bad if you know that it is just an in-universe reconstruction of what was thought to have happened on Reach.

That makes me feel worse. Whoever constructed that was really terrible at their job, and probably had their kid with them on a bring your kid to work day, so the kid influenced a boatload of stuff.

ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY CHROME.

Opinions. Opinions are what make it a bad games. Their was nothing wrong with it, I loved it. The only people who hated it were pissy people.

  • 12.22.2012 5:17 AM PDT

One does not simply trolololol into Mordor.

I could have put up with all the flaws if the campaign was the proper story of the Fall of Reach, with all the spartan II's and what not, but no bungie thought it would be great to use the crappy spartan III's that are just UNSC suicide grunts.
