What's the farthest you've been in a vehicle?

Any places you absolutely hate having to drive through?

Enjoy road trips? Hate them? How often do you take them?

  • 12.22.2012 6:52 AM PDT

Blind luck always prevails.

The farthest I have been by road is to the Alps from southern England. I've been 4 times and it's fine stopping overnight in a car (as a passenger) but I can't say 18 hour coach trips are much fun.

I'm currently on a 24 hour long road trip. Luckily we stop half way for a night.
I typically enjoy our trips but we do this 3 times a year. After all is said and done, it's exhausting.

#TwerkTeam

The longest road trip I've been on lasted 7 hours and that was to South Carolina. I usually sleep through the ride.

Incomprehensible gibberish.

I've gone from the El paso, Texas to Miami, Florida. Pretty fun I guess.

Must be nice. I have a ridiculously hard time falling asleep on road trips.

My neck of the woods.
How long did that take?

Talking about Sweden is an ultrabannable offense.

Too bad being completely and utterly wrong isn't a bannable offense.

Did this one twice.

Once there and once back.

Longest was from central Arkansas to TN. Road trips are okay, but I travel by plane when I go far. Because I don't have time to waste.
I'm actually on my way to Tennessee for the night. Love it there.
I can see how it could be considered a waste of time, being on the road for so long, but I just don't feel that way. We take our time on the road into consideration when planning our trips so that we have plenty of time to get to our destination.
Plus, there's no escaping your loved ones while in a car for 24 hours. You learn a lot.

From Perth to Exmouth and then back to Perth by indirect routes. It's 1260 km's to Exmouth from Perth, so distance would be double that and a half I guess. I can't really remember how long it took.... over two weeks at least. Long, very hot and most of the time, very boring.

It took me two weeks to do mine.

You slow, mate.

Damn, that's a cold-ass honky.

"He who has the money has the authority; and respect to the man with the Uzi."

From Albany, NY to Peru, IL. About fourteen hours total.

I love car rides, as long as I have a fair amount of leg room and I'm not shoved up against someone the whole time. I have a bizarre inability to fall asleep during travel, so I bring my iPod or a book for when things get quiet.

It was with my stepdad in his truck when I was young. He had to drop off some demountables to this little town in the middle of god knows where on the way back, which is what I meant by indirect routes. I kept a tally of things we ran over. I think it was something like 15 kangaroos, 7 lizards and 2 birds; trucks just roll over wildlife.

I'm assuming you aren't the one that drives but I absolutely hate driving through Ohio.
Out of all the states I've driven through, it's never a good experience through there.

We only hit a couple of birds driving across the whole width of Australia.

Just lucky I guess.

There's a word for what I am, but I can't pronounce it.

BFA, CCS - olde and bony & one minute musings.

Thanksgiving a few years back, a two day drive from Michigan to South Carolina. Going through West Virginia and Charleston was such a striking contrast from home. It was worth it.

Dependjng on where you're coming from and where you're going, it can be beautiful.

Yeah well, my stepdad was a real bastard, so I'm sure that factored into the killcount somewhere.

Oh man. Despite how almost everyone I know feels, I absolutely love driving through WV. It's incredibly beautiful to me.

@trueunderdog

Chapter

Narwhallace Smithington: Gone, but not forgotten. Never approve of anything lil guy. <3
Furious George: The new -blam!-

I take short road trips (3 hours) to the town where I went to college but it's been awhile since I've been down there. Some friends and I used to take road trips to Oklahoma (again, only a few hours) for camping/fishing trips.

Longest drive I've ever taken by myself was about 11 hours nonstop.
