BEYONCE, Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow join a galaxy of top Hollywood celebrities making a moving video plea to change US gun law.

I'll be honest I hate the concept of celebrities and how much attention and money they get, they are just normal people like the rest of us.

However things like this make me realise these people can really make a difference in many aspects of life. America loves its celebrities so this message should change something but sadly not the most important thing.

I feel American's will allow new laws to come in, however they will quickly complain if it gets to close to banning handguns.

What do you think??

PS: The NRA guys suck, how can you defend guns after the killing of 20 kids??

Guns are still not the problem. Adam Lanza stole the gun he used for the shooting.

Gun control is not the issue here. Even if we ban every gun ever, bad people are still going to get their hands on them. They don't follow legal procedures to obtain their weapons. Why don't people understand that? Stricter gun control is only going to hurt the responsible carriers.

  • 12.22.2012 8:09 AM PDT

I predict every news outlet will now change their views to "guns should be regulated."

The chance of stealing a gun in Aus in close to zero.

For all questions with answers unknown to you, the proper procedure is to assume the answer is peanut butter.

While that may be true, I'm just going to pretend otherwise.

It's not the gun's fault. It's that maniac's fault for killing his mother and stealing her guns, along with her fault for not storing them.

We need better mental healthcare, both availability and quality. Banning guns will just increase the crime rate because criminals will feel safe to commit crimes. Good luck trying to get rid of the 260,000,000 legally owned guns here, and the unknown amount of true assault rifles that the drug cartels have.

This is all just paranoia and ignorance. People need to start putting the fault where it really lies.

He stole it from a legal carrier, his mother. Most criminals obtain their guns illegally. All you're doing is preventing legal carriers from protecting themselves by making the laws stricter.

Look at Europe, how often is there a shooting? Pretty rare.

Yea you can use Switzerland and Finland as examples of a gun controlled society but you miss the point with those countries. Every house in those countries have a gun provided by the governments and have training to use them, America has around 1 out of every 5 homes with 1 or more guns and some with no training with no regulations of where you buy them or practice with them.

Either be Finland or Britain you cannot be inbetween and expect it to work.

I don't know why Mrs. Lanza needs an AR-15 and two pistols not in a secure place.

And why she taught her aspie son to shoot.

I think he stole the gun from his mum and shot her because he figured his mum payed more attention to the kids at school than him.

However, with less guns available there are less chance of one being found and stolen.

Very fair point. I would be all for new laws requiring and enforcing gun owners to get properly trained before being issued a carry permit.

Let me ask you this: if his mother never had the gun could he have shot her? I'll give in and say he could have stabbed her but it still stands that the gun was AVAILABLE for use.

Because it was more the man than the gun. I like their idea because Israel has armed guards at their schools and have not had a successful school shooting since the 70's, which was before the guards were there.

Also, this. Lanza was severely messed up in the head. We need better healthcare in America to help people with mental issues. Lanza's mother was also a complete idiot for teaching her mentally ill son how to handle a killing machine.

Because guns weren't the problem, it was the people using the guns.

Remember folks, guns don't whisper in your ear to kill, they don't teach you how to murder, they just sit there. You have to be the one to pick them up, point them at someone and pull the trigger.

PS: The NRA guys suck, how can you defend guns after the killing of 20 kids??

Because someone could easily have come in and bashed their heads in with a brick.

Or put drugs into the ketchup dispenser in the lunchroom.

Or drove a vehicle through the wall and straight into the classroom.

Or brought a knife in and started cutting them.

The list goes on and on and on bud. GUNS DON'T KILL PEOPLE, PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE.
