Celebrities are the Ultimate Trolls.

Looking down at people, yet they only say stuff about Society's problems only when it benefits them.

Take Sandy Concert for example. Why couldn't they give benefit concerts all the time?

There are benefit concerts all the time.

Seriously, all the -blam!- time.

I don't see celebrities giving up their millions of dollars to help those in need.

Celebrities donate millions of dollars all the time to people in need.

Granted, those donations don't always have the best results. Wanting good publicity can interfere with making the best donation. I'm not saying that celebrities are perfect, but to say that there aren't enough benefit concerts or that they don't donate a lot is completely silly.

"The right to own guns is in the constitution, you can't take that away"

IT'S IN AN AMENDMENT. AMENDMENT'S ARE BITS THAT HAVE BEEN CHANGED FROM THE ORIGINAL. WHY NOT CHANGE IT AGAIN?

Actually it was in the Bill of Rights, which was the basis of the U.S. Constitution. It's never been "changed from the original."

Oh well then I'll retract that from the post.

But what I'm trying to say is that laws are there to be changed

That's what sets the U.S. apart from other countries. The laws that our founders set up were meant to stay that way in order to assure that America's government would never adopt the same tyrannical practices of the British Empire at the time (or, rather, to assure that the government couldn't).

Don't bring up your petty Nation. I live in Kennesaw Georgia where they actually have a law that requires you to buy a hand gun (or just a gun), and there has only been around four murders here in around thirty years.

Might have to do with you living in a tiny ass town.

A) Freedom is more important than safety.

B) You never see hype and dedicated media coverage for the millions of people who own firearms and never go on shooting sprees.

Banning or further limiting firearms is not worth preventing future events.

- Guns kill people, WE SHOULD BAN THEM

Seriously, if anyone here insists that banning guns is a good idea, please lets have an actual argument about it.

"Hello, I am Ring Moniter 666 John Cena".

Just posting this again for the sake of people knowing (since so many people don't seem to understand it)

Assault rifles: guns with multiple firing modes that can fire burst or automatic.
Illegal unless registered before May 19th 1986; few were.

Assault weapons: anything that kind of looks like a machine gun. All legal ones are semiautomatic, and thus are functionally identical to most hunting rifles. Any people who legally own AR-15s or AK-47s own civillian semiautomatic versions.

Check the size with the population, also I acknowledge it is a small town population wise but I live in a county with almost 1,000,000 people and I still NEVER hear gunshots, never hear about murders or anything.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people.

Disclaimer: I'm not saying the Sandy Hook killings were a good/ok thing with the following statement

There are shootings every day in places like Chicago, Detroit, DC, Cleveland, et cetera. Why don't we have national news coverage for all of those?

As to celebrities weighing in on stuff like this: George Bush Doesn't Care About Black People

Well then it must not happen since you didn't hear or read about them. Here's the reality: Gun violence is big in the United States. That is a fact. We're talking ~12,000 deaths a year. You "never hearing gunshots" is pretty irrelevant.

The NRA guys suck, how can you defend guns after the killing of 20 kids??
Because it was more the man than the gun. I like their idea because Israel has armed guards at their schools and have not had a successful school shooting since the 70's, which was before the guards were there.

Y'know, I've been wondering for the past few days why we don't have armed security in schools.

To people that are for banning guns: Banning guns here is not a good idea. While it MAY(big emphasis on MAY) stop the occasional teenage gunman that would steal a gun from his mom, it won't stop a determined murderer. It won't stop the majority of criminals or psychopaths. What it WILL do, is take guns out of law-abiding citizens' hands and leave them unable to defend themselves against criminals and psychos. What NEEDS to happen, is armed security at schools, gun safety should be taught in ALL schools(assuming it isn't already) and less "gunfree" zones.

And what about the kids who find their parents guns and accidentily shoot themselves with them?

Or the gang members/drug dealers who just stroll into shops and buy weapons to support their trade?

Your statistics are out of date. 2010 gun homicides in the is is 8775 deaths. It's been decreasing steadily for 22 years. Plus gun ownership is at the highest level ever, at nearly 1:1 ratios.

30,000 people in 8 square miles isn't a lightly populated town, on top of that it is within a county that has 700,000 people. Also, me hearing or not hearing gunshots is quite relevant, I've never heard a gunshot other than at the range or something similar. It is VERY relevant because people like you fail to take into account the vast majority of gunshot victims were tied in with drugs, gangs, or other similar activities. You rarely hear of people walking around killing people for fun, when that happens it is the top story across almost every news channel.
