Subject: It looks like the Hobbit is the new Phantom Menace

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

The only difference is that while it had all the same pieces as Phantom Menace it still came together to be a good movie.

Until there's a Jar Jar Binks character, I think everone is going to disagree with you.

Radagast

he's there for about 5 minutes and serves much more of a purpose than jar jar binks ever did.

Overlong, boring, too much CGI, annoying characters, nowhere near as good as the original trilogy, made exclusively to milk a franchise...

The prequels are much better than the original Star Wars films. You're just looking for attention.

You look around. You fire your weapon before you realize.
Its just me. I fall and you walk up. You cry why.
When i pop up. You look at me in wonder. I say,"ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL."
You bend to my will and go to a cliff, walk off, and fall.
The last thing you hear is me stating as fact,"All will fail the battle of life, you just went early"

The Hobbit is a great movie.

And the Phantom Menace wasn't my cup of tea, but I don't get the hate for it.

Remember those times when we all had something better to be doing, but didn't do it? Those were good times. Gooood times

It can never be the new Phantom Menace. You know why?

Cause its the Hobbit, the prologue to the LotR series!

Why are people comparing it to the original LOTR trilogy?
It's not an entirely unfair comparison, at least in terms of adaptations and the ethic behind them.

I just re-watched Lord of the Rings to reevaluate my stance on the Hobbit and the thing I've noticed is that where Lord of the Rings would have character development and storylines evolving the Hobbit is simply content to throw another excuse for a battle.

Actually, he's less plot important than Jar Jar. Radaghast serves to introduce another subplot to throw off the movie's focus. Jar Jar becomes integral to the plot of Phantom due to his link with the Gungans.

It's the introduction of a sub plot compared to part of the central conflict of the movie.

Pure Insanity
The point of war is not to die for one's clan, but it's to make the other bastard die for his
Right before you die, there is always a chance to save yourself, sieze that chance and live to fight another day
The best way to kill someone is to fight them with the same weapons they use and make them know you are better than them, not because of superior weaponry, but because of superior skill.
Hidden in the shadows, Clothed in camo, Armed to the teeth. Hunting.

That's funny, because I thought the Hobbit was awesome.

Tolkien is a better story teller than George Lucas.

He introduced the Necromancer, who is going to become quite important. Also the spiders.

"One starts to live when he can live outside himself."

I liked this film much better than the Fellowship. However, about 20 minutes could have been trimmed off, especially near the end.

Neither of which had anything to do with the central conflict of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, although there arguably isn't one. Which means you're still trying to argue someone whose function was introducing a subplot to set-up the LOTR and later movies and someone integral to the central conflict of their movie.

But, but..... I enjoyed the Hobbit, and thought it was almost as good as the original trilogy.

According to Benedict Cumberbatch he's going to be involved in the Battle of Five Armies.

We haven't heard much about this for months. I doubt this rumor is true, he may be confusing the Battle of Five Armies with the Battle of Dol Guldur. Plus he didn't get the name right in the first place, calling it the "Five Legions War".
