Forgive me if this has been brought up before, but so far I haven't seen any kind of mention of it.

How awesome would it be if there was an option to create our own mulitplayer maps and put them up for download on xbox live?

Think about what kind of open endedness(Did I make that up? Maybe.) would be started if we had this option. People would be able to make their favorite maps from the origional Halo, Halo 2, and so on. New maps could be made JUST for variations on custom games. While it would have its problems, such as 10 year olds making a square room that everyone just fights in randomly and putting it on xbox live, I think the benifits would outweigh the negatives. Possibly a rating system could be implemented to weed out the exceptional maps from the.....not so exceptional ones.

Is it a crazy idea? Maybe. But for those of you who have played Timesplitters 3 and Farcry Instincts you know its an easy way to add miles of depth to multiplayer, especially on consoles where user created content is almost non-existent.

Let me know what you think.

if it's already being implemented in halo 3, that's great. but it wouldn't kill me if they left it out either.

hey i really like that idea there was a game for ps2 when i had one that you could but see with halo its the biggest game that i have ever played with the people that play it and the intersting things that people find in the levels such as superbounces etc.

i think the idea of making are own maps would be cool i think that there should be that option for custom maps such you can trade with freinds etc. and if you really like that map that you have made you should be able to submit it to bungie for them to fix up a little and make sure there are no glitches or super bouncing on the level and make it into a matchmaking map i think that, that way the bungie team wouldnt have to think as hard on what to do next they could jsut look at peoples and be like woa thats an awsome level lets fix it up a little and submit it.. just an idea though

I assume you want custom maps for Live right? If so, NO!!!! Then we would have to sort through TENS OF THOUSANDS of -blam!- maps made by ten-year-olds JUST to find the ones made bu bungie, then IF AND ONLY IF you found a GOOD map, you would have to let it load and all that groovy -blam!-. I will let bungie make the maps, considering that they are good at it.

If you DON"T want it for live, then STILL NO!!!! The Tony hawk mapmaker FAILED!!! IT BLEW!!!!! It was complicated to make a SKATE PARK!!!! Now imagine trying to make a FPS MAP!!! YOu got weapon, vehicle, turret, player, grenade, and flag spawns to make. And what about buildings? There can only be so many options. I REALLY don't want to play Halo 3 on a skatepark, if you know what i mean.

I never played Timesplitters 3 and Far Cry Instincts, is it long to download user-created maps? Is it a big file?

Yeah, for Farcry it was, that was the only thing that sucked about it.

you REALLY like caps. I realize that ten year olds will probably bog down the list with -blam!- maps. In fact, I adressed that in my first post. and yes I agree that user created maps and bungie maps in the same list would be terrible. But thats not what I had in mind. there would be NO (emphasis on no. really, no.) user created maps in matchmaking whatsoever. The list of user created maps would be different from the list of bungie created maps. Plus, a rating system would need to be implemented to sort out the good maps from the bad. After someone plays the map, they could rate it from 1-10 or something. I don't know, I think if bungie were to do this (and by no means do I ever expect them to, I just think it would be sweet) they would figure it out.

Map maker would ruin Halo 3 it would turn it in to Timespliters 3 just think if you ever wanted to play a custom game with your buds you would have to all have the same maps to play with each other and of course if you wanted to play with new people you would have to download there maps to it would take up to much memorie and in the end people would stop playing the game just like timespliters 3 no one plays that game anymore so please if they were to add something I would hope it would only be a Map EDITOR so you could only do the stuff now and maby be able to have night and day options and weather options thats it anything else most likely be out of reason.

That would not look pretty if kids made custom maps just being sqaure rooms that would be total confusion and chaos not to mention no places to hide ...

All I want is some kind of editor. Even a basic one like in Time Splitters. You can make some great maps even if the mapmaker is unadvanced.

Great idea but putting them up for download on Xbox Live like they did with the map packs there would be MILLIONS of them availible. If you could transfer them to each other's console before the game starts then I think Bungie could pull it off. I think I read somewhere on Bungie that Halo 3 would come with a map editor. I love the idea.
