Coincidence, i think not.
the arbiter could suck a golfball through a garden hose... honestly, covenant fighting covenant?
Sure its a plot twist but lets 1) provide some background and
2) save it for cinematics
i don't want to feel sorry for the elites, i want to kill them

also whats with this human/ elite alliance in the end of halo 2

plot so thick you could eat it with a spoon

seriously bungie, the halo original story was AMAZING, now Halo 2 is just trying to hard to have Cah-razy plot

Back to basics

This plot reminds me of the random twists found in the novels old people buy at used book stores

well thats how i see it, if you disagree, well i really don't care

and yes, I'm a Rambler

There's no confirmed alliance between the Humans and the Elites. Sargeant Johnson and a few of his Marines teamed up with the Arbiter and a few of his Elites, but I doubt that every Elite, Grunt, and Hunter will team up with every Human. Besides, if we didn't play as the Arbiter, then the Campaign would be very short.

What's with the alliance at the end of Halo2? duh... if you realize all life will cease to exist in less than an hour if you don't do something, are you going to keep senselessly killing someone else because they're a different race than you, or are you going to try and stop all life from being destroyed?

And a plot is a good thing...

That just means that the Elites, the Grunts, and the Hunters will make the Prophets, the Drones, and the Brutes their enemies, but that doesn't mean that they'll make the Humans their allies. Besides, not every Elite, Grunt, and Hunter knows that Halo will destroy all sentient life in the galaxy. They could try to kill the Humans that get in their way while they try to stop Halo's activation.

The original poster is another idiot with no appreciation for the story.

The Arbiter was put in to make the Covenant into people with thoughts and feelings about particular subjects and it really drove the plot of Halo 2 along. If the Humans/Elites/Grunts/Hunters want to survive, they will team up in their best interest.

As for the Arbiter, he was a great plot element because of the fact that he simply learned that his whole life was a lie. I loved that about his character and how he deals with it by helping to initate the Covenant Civil War.

Once again, act with more maturity, or go shoot yourself in both hands. Either way is fine with me.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

So your a racist????

The whole point of the Arbiter was to reveal who the real bad guys were all along... The Prophets!

The Prothets have fooled all of the Covenant and The Elites were just mislead!

Heck yeah I agree with you. Its a load of BS. The Elites are the true match for master chief. I don't want Halo 3 to be a game where I run around killing over sized monkeys and chickens (Brutes and Jackals). I want to kill Elites to the end. The Arbiter to.

I don't agree with him being immature and an idiot, but I agree he should stop being so close minded. The Arbiter was put in the game as a gateway to understanding the Covenant.

And it was effective. Unlike the Chief, The Arbiter has a more dynamic ttitude and change, from being shamed and burned, turning into the Arbiter, being betrayed by the Prophets, etc. He is more dynamic. The Chief barely talks(i'm not one sided, i'm just telling you the truth). I liked the Arbiter. And they cannot take him out now.

Regardless if you hate the Arbiter, you must admit that he was needed in the story. If the Arbiter was not in Halo, it would be just like any other FPS. How many FPS' are out there that go like this: "You are a genticly enhanced super soldier that must save the world from evil space aliens! Oh and by the way, you are in the future with space ships!" Arbiter saved Halo from mediocrity because he let us in to see the enemy's side of the story. Other FPS don't let you do that.

I'm fairly sure u can't be racist against a none exisistent plot device that fails as it attempts to become cilized from a barbaric route in the first game.

The covenant and humans are like the capulets and montegue's

If u want to defend a half truce then all thats left to happen is the cheif banging the arbiter and then they both commit suicide

not to mention if the prophets fooled the covenant then that implies they r smarter anf therefore r knowingly trying to commit suicide?

u gotta think ur post thru man

I doubt Dervish is his name.

Dervish \Der"vish\, n. One of the fanatical followers of the Mahdi, in the Sudan.

Dervish \Der"vish\, Dervise \Der"vise\, Dervis \Der"vis\, n. [Per. derw[=e]sch, fr. OPer. derew to beg, ask alms: cf. F. derviche.]

A Turkish or Persian monk, especially one who professes extreme poverty and leads an austere life.

Sounds more like a title to me.

well this is what i got from wiki:

The concept art also shows the words Earth_Ark_09. This refers to the original 9-level Halo 2 concept. In the DVD, Joseph Staten explained the original 9 level design of Halo 2 and mentioned a "grand conclusion" on Earth. The other words in the screen capture, "Chief" and "Dervish" refer to the characters involved. Dervish was the Arbiter's original name. Both the Halo 3 trailer and the concept art here show clear similarities in geographical surroundings and structure. This evidence makes it likely that the structure in the announcement trailer is, or is related to, the Ark.

The Arbiter was mianly introduced to show a little about the Covnenant. As for the Covenant fighting each other... Its their own Civil War that may be starting... Its plot. As for the Human's joining sides with the Elites... Thats not official yet, but looks like it may be heading that way.

Exactly. Without the Flood, Halo:CE would be like any other sci-fi shooter, plot wise. The main reason I loved H2 so much is that the story was so interesting. I love politics, so I found the Arbiter's storyline far more interesting than the MC's.

Why have the arbiter? Arbiter = Filler

You ever heard of a thing called diversity? Its that little thing developers do to do somthing different. If the arbiter wasn't there, then the game would just be Halo 1 with different guns, and personally, although Halo 1 rocked, I welcomed the diversity that was brought on by the arbiter.
