Not at all.
It's developers who can't see that creating CoD clones won't make them competitive. Now taking things that CoD does well and implementing them into your ideas to entice new players is another thing, but just creating a flat out twitch ADS clone of CoD won't get you anywhere.

Well I think I've accurately deciphered this.
I can see the point you're trying to make, but the devs giving in creates a stagnant industry. Look at Skyrim, for example. That managed to amass a mainstream following despite being nothing like the best selling game. People will cling to what they have until they find something different that they equally enjoy.
Dev's who don't make games people will buy go out of business. It is the same reason why most smartphones look like iPhones. iPhones sell. From the business angle, they are just meeting consumer demands.
If CoD stopped selling, you would see another franchise take the lead, and they will get their game copied.
I can agree with that. I remember when Turok 2008 attempted to go for Halo.
