If most gamers would grow up and stop buying -blam!- and buying the well made indie games. The gaming industry would prosper.

At least someone can see pass the generic games.

Call of Duty is a good game. I will always buy them, for as long as I have fun playing them.

Also, if CoD is so bad why don't developers make a better one?

answer: They can't

No, I'm not lost.

Why would I stop buying COD games? Now that Halo sucks, COD is the only FPS that is playable

No, stupid developers trying to make their games into Call of Duty(Halo 4) is killing the industry.

Combining this with your coup.. my mind just gets boggled.

OT: The gamers are always going to be to blame. They waste, and openly admit to it, their money on a game they will only purchase for one o two things..

Well youre correct. I do only care for multiplayer. I play video games for competition. No need to act so arrogant.

  • 12.22.2012 5:57 PM PDT

I agree, but I probably wouldn't put my thoughts in the same context. Call of Duty is likely to be around for years more; you're preaching to the choir, and to at least a few million 12 year olds.

Gamers are just developing an unhealthy mindset. Even some veteran gamers are being a pain in the ass all the time. I'm kind of sick of the whole shift to this mindset where everyone kind of feels they are entitled to what they want, and the developers obligated to make a game around what they want. New IPs do fine as no one expects anything, but you go so far along the line and people start expecting things. As soon as they realise they're mixing up their own creative vision with the developers creative vision, things seem to spiral out of control on the players half.

Not at all.

It's developers who can't see that creating CoD clones won't make them competitive. Now taking things that CoD does well and implementing them into your ideas to entice new players is another thing, but just creating a flat out twitch ADS clone of CoD won't get you anywhere.

*sigh*

Those dev's do so because gamers but those games. They're just asking hat sells.

Well I think I've accurately deciphered this.

I can see the point you're trying to make, but the devs giving in creates a stagnant industry. Look at Skyrim, for example. That managed to amass a mainstream following despite being nothing like the best selling game. People will cling to what they have until they find something different that they equally enjoy.

Dev's who don't make games people will buy go out of business. It is the same reason why most smartphones look like iPhones. iPhones sell. From the business angle, they are just meeting consumer demands.

If CoD stopped selling, you would see another franchise take the lead, and they will get their game copied.

Multiple parties are at fault.

Game companies are at fault for not only making CoD clones but reinforcing the CoD hype. Gamers are at fault for buying the tripe and believing it's filet mignon. Gamers who don't buy the game are at fault for not being receptive to newcomers, engaging new and younger players in new games outside CoD.

Not implying that. If most AAA gaming companies would stop thinking indie games are trash and don't deserve any rewards.
The gaming industry would improve.

Then perhaps you shouldn't have made such a general, overarching statement?

I wouldn't buy an indie game in a million years. I wouldn't even touch an App Game. They're going to cause a second video game market crash.

I don't want to start another account for a digital number that has no true value in ten years.

People need to realize COD has a good formula in terms of gameplay, all they do is just change the parts that compliment it. It isn't a bad thing, why fix what isn't broken? And plus it still keeps the game refreshed. Forcing complete change doesn't work when it isn't needed, just look at the progression of Halo 3 through Reach and 4.

Apps aren't the only indie games you know.
