maybe it's something we should fund. either way, the bottom line is that the amount of gun related homicide and homicide in general can be cut significantly if guns were banned.
but of course, a straight up ban would cause huge problems in today's america, simply because guns are so saturated into the country. we'd go through a phase of good people being left defenseless against criminals wielding guns that they bought illegally. but eventually guns would, for the most part, filter out of america since the main supply was cut. short term, this is a terrible idea, but i don't see a better one.
Actually, if you did a little research, you'd notice that the places with the most draconian gun control laws tend to have the highest levels of firearm violence.
Banning guns will never solve the issue of violence.
that is the case in certain parts of america, but not in other parts of the world. the problem with trying to restrict guns in america is that there are already way too many guns in america, so restricting them would be counter-productive. it takes guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens but doesn't address the problem of the black market, giving criminals a large advantage. it also makes those "gun-free" areas a hell of a lot more attractive to said criminals.
which is why, like i have already said, that i think an all out gun ban in america is a terrible idea. but, if america weren't so full of guns in the first place, a gun ban could work because illegally obtaining them becomes much harder.
