My computer is starting up under the wrong OS. Whenever I shut it off it starts under Vista, when it should b starting up under 8. All of my stuff is on 8. How do I switch it back and make it the default on start up?

Per Audacia Ad Astra

This might help.

When it starts up enter your bios and re-arrange which OS to boot up in settings.

You sure it's installed?

I would try re installing it to be honest.

It is installed, but on a different hard drive.

It is installed, but on a different hard drive.

Then go into the bios and select the drive you want the OS to be loaded of off as the one you installed windows 8 onto.

The bios has a list of which drive it will load an OS off of. Generally it goes HDD, Optical Disc Drive, Flash drive and whatever is left. Somewhere on that list you will see the hard drive with windows 8 on it. Move it up to the top.

Thank you. My computer is now fixed. Now here's a cookie.

You're a mod, you should be used to that.

Internal hard drives are relatively inexpensive. Compared to about 10 yrs ago.

Duct tape.

If duct tape does not work, use more duct tape.
